Yes, sometimes these picks are so random. And especially scary, if they're showing someone from the 50s, 60s, or 70s, maybe even 80s, out of nowhere. I mean, it wasn't as scary for me, because she won, I would have been way more concerned, if it was a 5th place finisher who's not a big name in the music scene (anymore). I'm glad she's still alive, but you'll never know.

Vicky Leandros is well known for her victory in 1972 but she also represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 1967 "L'amour est bleu" composed by André Popp with French lyrics by Pierre Cour,. finishing in 4th place. Her song became a huge hit charting in so many countries including Canada and Japan. It has since been recorded by many other musicians, most notably French orchestra leader Paul Mauriat, whose familiar instrumental version -recorded in late 1967- became the first number-one hit by a French lead artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Vicky is not french , she is greek but was mainly raised in Germany and though an international star of sorts ( she has restricted the number of countries she used to sing in since way back in the 80's), her career was and is primarily in Germany ( and the german speaking countries and greece). We hardly see her in france or quebec anymore ( where she used to be very popular). She is still a big star mainly in northern europe.
