I loved both france and portugal. I think it is a pity people dont understand some of france songs. I have been certain france would win on 3 occasions last 10 years and then they end up in the bottom. Not fair. A BIG shame for European juries voting for generic English songs rather than good songs in their national languages, which is the point of Eurovision!

@@achoo_w obviously it’s not the same for the UK. There’s is way to show culture en English for England but the UK is made of Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland they all have their own languages and cultures completely different from England even if they all speak English.

Sadly it will be a cold day in hell before the BBC ever sends anything in a language that isn't in English. I'm Scottish, but I am realistic, virtually no one speaks non-English indigenous languages, the BBC clearly feel that the song has to be understood by the southern English majority of the population. If they wanted to they could already have done so, as early as 1970 when Mary Hopkin, a first language Welsh speaker represented the UK and came 2nd with 'Knock Knock Who's There?' in a year Ireland's winner Dana came from Northern Ireland. They don't want to send a song in a language they don't speak, end of. I thought 2023, a year they wouldn't necessarily want to do well in as the hosts was the perfect year to send a song in Welsh, the most widely spoken Celtic language, especially as it would stand out, fits so neatly with the branding and message and Liverpool is right next to Wales and has a large Welsh diaspora, but clearly I was wrong. Best to just move on and accept that representation means everything BUT native languages that aren't English to the BBC.

2023 was the first year since I started watching eurovision (somewhere halfway the 2010s) that I didn't watch any part of any of the live shows and I cannot believe that I missed this one performing live. There are no words to describe the commitment that this woman put into this performance (even with the limitations of the LEDs) and throughout the eurovision journey. I don't remember my country taking to Eurovision an artist who was so dedicated to everything in recent times! How Poland got more televotes than MimiCat is beyond me. Pity Portugal does not have more neighboring countries for support. They always help Spain, the only neighbor, and get peanuts in return from the Spanish jury. Not the people. Most of the Spanish I know loved her. Hopefully she gets invited back to perform next year. Her and Blanca Paloma (a living force of nature) .
