For many, flying is once in a lifetime experience. And if that experience is filled with neglect and arrogance then it's a lifetime memory. And a reputed airline like eurowings does that means there is no quality control. But thanks to Josh he does their customer service assessment work for them. These videos are valuable for any airliner looking to boost their business and customer experience. Keep up Josh :)

As a former flight attendant for EW based in DUS (till Nov 2019) I can say in my 4 years I've never seen anyone treating business class that way. Some of our PU's even remembered each of the names to talk to everyone personally. It might be because we started off being Germanwings. I rather remember business class guests being rude but we still remained friendly. Back then service was great and over the years they stripped down the products. I feel embarrassed for these former colleagues and I am sure they had a bad day as otherwise, they need to change their job. Hopefully, the right people see this video and there will be consequences as well as some goody for you. Oh, aviation is such a wonderful job but humans have the tendency to let their personal frustration out on others I guess.

Imagine working for Lufthansa main-line for several years having good working conditions and salary then being forced to change to the Lufthansa-Ryanair and working longer hours with worse working conditions for way less money .. or lose your job completely.. because Lufthansa management wanting to make more profit i'm SURE you would absolutely ENJOY being the nicest cabin crew ever on this planet! Just so you know.. these people only get paid for OFFBLOCK time.. that means for hours the plane is actually on the way.. not for any pre or afterflight preparations .. those hours are basically freetime you work for nothing.. but still having a 10-15hr workday (officially.. offblock!) and getting just enough money out of it to not run into private financial bankruptcy. Eurowings management better see this video.. but not for the reason you mean for.. but maybe.. but even then i would heavily doubt (because there are way way bigger discussions going on than any passenger who doesn't do any research on the topic at all would ever see) that they would realize that this isn't the way to go for making good profit in the long run. Want a high quality flying experience? Then spend the money for a high quality flight on an Airline who does not take advantage of their employees just to make one extra buck. Quality costs money. Not content on spending the money? Then book Ryanair and shut up about low quality service or not included meals or whatever. And no i'm not flying personell in any way.. just a human being who enjoys flying from time to time who realizes that quality and service costs money.. never flown with a super-low-cost carrier and never will.

For me it just looks like another european connection flight with DUS instead of BER destination in Germany. And no matter what, to expect a first class like experience on a narrow hull Airbus 321 is bold at the minimum. Never seen something like that on planes connecting cities in europe

Hi Josh. In the very early 70s, we lived in Düsseldorf as UK expats. We lived right next to the American International school, close to Düsseldorf Airport and, at age 11, this is where my interest in aviation really developed. I could see Pan Am and other Western carriers fly into Düsseldorf operating flights to Berlin (this was the Cold War!). It is also where I say my first 747 ( 1971 or 1972). It was, I think a -100 series operated by Condor and, having seen it approach over the Rhein, I asked my dad to takes us to the end of the runway to watch it leave. Fantastic. In the ensuing 50 years - 46 of which spent in aircraft maintenance and safety - I am a little more cynical about aviation (and life) but, on balance, still find it exciting.

I became an aviation geek on my very first trip back in 1978 when my mom took me on vacation to New York from Dominica. We flew on a Liat HS 748 from Dominica to Antigua. I was fascinated by the shape of the plane which was not sleek but had a beauty to it in its compact shape. We then flew on an Eastern Airlines L 1011 to New York. The dark blue and light blue hockey stick livery to today is my favorite airline livery. On our return trip we flew on a BWIA Tristar 500 back to Antigua then on another HS 748 to Dominica.

As a young child my holiday memories start with driving to the airport, checking in and watching the plane pulling up which was always a Boeing 737-200 of Britannia Airways (with their super cool dark purple-blue and orange stripes livery), getting a sweet to suck on takeoff, full service even on short haul back then, getting to go up to the cockpit and meet the captain, getting the window seat and watching the flaps, speed brakes and bucket thrust reversers on landing - it was magic and I loved every minute. I was really bummed when they bought 757s (too many seats and not enough galley or washrooms) and then gradually dumbed down the product to budget level service and squeezed the seats close and closer to get more in. Things don’t often change for the better.

I flew Eurowings from Stockholm to Düsseldorf in the summer of 2022. While waiting for the plane in Stockholm, they repeatedly announced that cabin luggage was not allowed, everything had to be checked in. So we (me and my family) obeyed and checked everything. The flight was about one hour delayed. On arrival, our luggage was missing. Eurowings service office was open and we and reported this. I asked the staff whether they thought our luggage would arrive the next day but they said no, ”Stockholm does not send anything on their next flight.” Since this meant that our holiday was already ruined, I asked if it was possible to go back to Stockholm the next day. Again, answer was no. All seats are booked. For a week. Since my medicine was in my cabin bag, this meant we slept at our hotel in Düssledorf and then spent the next day trying to get hold of medication. It turned out that even though I had all the prescription documents, no hospital in Germany can help with this. Having spent €300 on taxi rides, we finally encountered a nice German woman who fixed an appointment with a private doctor. He helped us and we got the medication. After this we went to the Eurowings baggage office again, but they couldn’t answer any questions. No luggage had arrived from Stockholm. We decided to make the best possible of the situation and got our rental car, bought some clothes and continued on our one week trip to Belgium. When we got back to Düsseldorf for the return trip, we were told that our luggage had actually arrived on day two, but since we weren’t there, it had been sent back to Stockholm. Back in Stockholm, they had no info on where the baggage was. So we went home. Three weeks and fifty phone calls later, the baggage was delivered to our home. Our travel insurance paid for the clothes we had bought, but we got nothing from Eurowings. This sucks! Worst airline we ever experienced.

What started my love of aviation? Late 1970’s Laker Airways 707s….. I fell in love with flying from then on!

Actually, becoming an aviation geek was fairly recent for me, I just wanted to break the monotony of the initial pandemic and that was getting behind my Nikon D70 and trying something “challenging” to photograph…. what better then a speeding jet right? Plus San Diego is a lovely place to spot, you could easily spend a sunny afternoon spotting. Only problem with San Diego is there’s almost no variety- essentially all 737’s and A320’s of the dominant carriers…. though I love Southwest’s ‘Heart’ livery. I wanted more, so one day I went up to LAX, at the time I wasn’t super familiar with LA and it’s very easy to get lost on the freeway systems but I found it. The trip was almost immediately worth it; blasting off the runway was a Nippon Cargo Airlines 747-8 and that was it, I fell in love with the type as she roared past me, me standing in awe…. then not much longer was a Air China Cargo 747-400 that was even louder then the -8. Long live the Queen.

I STILL have memories, when I was REALLY young; being fascinated with the airplane I was travelling on; a MSA 707 from HKG to SIN. (I still vividly remember the stewardess holding me up, in her arms....and asking me questions; as we disembarked)

I’m used to this service quality flying Lufthansa economy. You have to beg for getting a drink during long haul flights or get it yourself in the galley. Even got kicked out several times while doing it. Bizz class ob the other way they treat you completely different at Lufthansa. You can feel that they are motivated and not lazy sitting around for 10 hours

Eurowings is a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group and the latter is cutting services more and more and prices are rising. Strikes and unreliability are on the increase. As a German, I avoid Lufthansa and their subsidiary companies as much as possible. I am ashamed of this company, which is supposed to be the international flagship for German hospitality.

I tried EW BIZ Class once on a flight from DUS to BER since it was cheaper than a Y Seat with checked Luggage. Otherwise I would have never paid for it. I think I became an AV Geek right after birth when I had to be rushed to another Hospital in a Helicopter to undergo surgery. I was also lucky enough to start flying quite early (4-5 years old) and visited the Maldives, Thailand, Egypt, Balearic and Canary Islands with my mother and Grandparents. But I still believe that this first Helicopter-Ride made me fall in Love with flying right away. :)

I became an avgeek, when I was around 10 years old and that was ca.1980. My parents, my sister and myself visited in those days the observation deck of Frankfurt airport and I won‘t ever forget the apron view and the parked 707, 747 an DC-10 planes of Pan Am, TWA, Lufthansa and Air India. Since that day, 40 years ago, I am a big aviation enthusiast.

How I became an Av-Geek- Probably a combination of picking up my dad from SFO, flying to Toronto every summer, and driving by the airport watching the United 727s line up for takeoff driving to and from Price Club/Costco. I could never understand how European airlines just have blocked middle seats for Business Class to begin with.

What makes some of us Avgeeks? I think some of us are born with it - or perhaps we had an early flight experience, no doubt shaped by our parents or family, that has stuck with us one way or another. My first flight was when I was 4 (on a BAC 1-11) and I vaguely remember my father explaining to me what it feels like to take off by driving really fast in the car, hopefully nothing too dangerous! During the actual flight, I can still recall being mesmerized by looking out of the window at the small houses, cars, villages and towns. The noises, the sensations, even the smells were terrific to my young self. It was made to be a special experience and it was. Hundreds and hundreds of flights later - and many years - I'm still mesmerized by flying and the windows it can open up. Some people view airports the same way I probably do hospitals, but for me an airport represents a chance to travel somewhere new, to see and experience new things. Instilling a sense of wonder from flying, and travel in general, is something I really wanted to pass along to my kids, even though they may not be AvGeeks quite like I am. I kept a log my parents had from British Airways documenting my first flights through my early teen years, and I still maintain a diary of every flight I've ever been on (airline, type, tail#, origin and destination). Flying is still very special to me. Sorry Eurowings was disappointing, it doesnt look like you got good value for money. Service aside, maybe you'd have been more satisfied in economy where the limitations are in-line with what you paid. To be fair, besides the empty seat, this 'business class' product didn't look very different than any number of other low-cost, no frills European airlines such as EasyJet, WizzAir or Vueling. I think it was way over-hyped!

My avgeek story is also xmas based. Growing up I lived in Crawley which is the main town for LGW. I also grew up in a pretty bad/ deprived setting & a local charity arranged a 'Santa Flight to nowhere' which I was luck enough to get picked for one year when I was 11 years old. BA laid on the flight and we flew up to ( but didn't land) Scotland and back giving me a chance to experience flying for about 2 hours I guess. 'Santa' was onboard and that was fun but I will never forget the Captain who came out and spoke to us then I got to chat with him and he was so gracious answering about a million questions. He said I had about 10 questions more than anyone else so I turned to him and said "I just want to know now coz I've never been on a plane before and I don't think I ever will again" to which he took my hand and said "Never give up on a dream. I'm sure I will see you onboard again one day"... That was 30+ years ago. It stirred a passion to see the world, experience different places, people & cultures which still fills me to this day and while i'm not a rich guy I devote about 80% of my 'spare' money to travel and in November this year I ticked off my 69th country ( St. Lucia).
