And a total misunderstanding for you. Annie once asked says 'she turns from one monster into another-she cannot free herself from herself'. Again, she is a victim of men-this time rough men. 'I need a man' is no song of sexual freedom-it is actually the exact opposite...

@@trevorsommers3094 She is again a victim of a wrong perception of herself. Again she will be unhappy, desperate lost, desillusioned-and not free at all. 'You have placed a chill in my heart' points to that. Never underestimate the deliberate big part of kitsch in her transvestite 'I need a man' performance-she just needs a man-its not that she gets one. If she is free it would read 'I don't need a man'.

It sounds a bit mad but in the UK when this came out we only had 4 tv channels, no 24 hour mtv or cable or whatever. The UK was a bit more dark overall the feeling in the 80s until acid house and rave kicked of a sort of cultural revolution. Maybe not having everything on tap made artists more creative.

I always felt that the Eurythmics and later Annie on her own really 'got' what video could do for a song. If you listen to just the song alone, you get the sense of a woman on the edge about to snap, but when you see this video, you get that even more intensely. It really enhances the song, and tells a story that leads into the other videos for the singles from this album. 'I Need A Man', also from Savage, features the character striding off at the end...I dont think anyone else did stories.

But the clip is not about sitting at home. It is about an internal dialog at the background of a human mind. The initial look of Annie Lennox means an internal parent, the girl means an internal child and the man in the dress means a shadow (rejected and forbidden features and desires of a psyche). At the end they joined together and went out (came out).

When i was a kid, as a fan in the US, i was shocked that no one around me knew of this record. This was their last album (for a while, at least), and, i thought is was their best work EVER---as far as continuity goes. No other album flowed as smoothly from track-to-track and emotion-to-emotion as Savage. I honestly think America didn't understand it because were simply too fickle to even care if it was good album or not. All we care about it the next "hit" song.

Mark Grainge. Yes late 70's/early 80's synth-based music was cutting edge and futuristic sounding. Immediately prior to that period was the punk movement which paved the way for new wave music. It was a great time to be a teenager who loved music and the whole process of crate-digging and reading the fan-zines to find inspiration. This song in particular always felt harder edged in an electro-industrial type of way. And then not much later some bands like Ministry returned to a harder rock style. And now in 2019 post-punk is in style again. 🔄 John from S.F., Ca.

I love the way she walks at the end of the video! So self secure, and confident, not a nervouse wreck like in the beginning of the video! Her alter ego was the strongest one( but more crazy tough)! Love this video&song! My favorite all time Eurythmics song!🤩👍

Annie Lennox, quanta beleza, quanta criatividade, quanto talento. Com certeza, muito bem sucedida na vida e na carreira. Dentre os muitos sucessos do Eurythmics, gosto demais dessa música!

Thank you THANK YOU SO MUCH for this absolutely pristine magnificent and BEAUTIFUL Remaster of the Musicvideo!! I cannot say this enough but this is exactly the kind if respectful treatment Musicvideos should get. Getting all their original camera negatives properly re-scanned in (at least) 4K and getting the directors and DoPs involved again. I always see these musicvideos as shortfilms and they deserve all the right to shine and seen as they should. In all their glory. 💖
