EV ETX15p peak limiter and shutoff

I had nothing but problems with these speakers. I dont have video of them physically shutting off for 5-10 seconds at a time (that would look even worse to my clients that I was filming while the speakers went dead). If I went any louder than the setting that you see in the video it would shut off. EV sent me replacement speakers and I had the same issue with those. The speakers were not even at an extreme volume and were set at the factory DSP settings.

Why are you adding +3 decibels to pre-recorded music?! You obviously want to overheat and blow the speaker. You are already adding +3,+4 decibels on the mixer. This video is all types of wrong.

Ev speakers limit too fast. To me it was a disappointment when I got my etx15p and put them beside the Rcf art945a. Rcf art speakers are extremely hard to limit. The 945a are beasts. They just don’t limit and the sound quality is clear and defined in the mods and highs. Etx is honestly a disappointment.

Clearly this is an older video so i'm assuming you figured out the issue. I will ask did you at all go into the room eq function and play with that? Also with the limit peak flashing like that you aren't even close to peaking that speaker.. Thats the software basically saying "I got you". People get so use to these other boxes like QSC that when they actually show a limit light the box is ready to explode.

EV ETX15p are really good speaker you just got a damage one you need to send it back to EV they will repair or replace the Amp Module

No sub. Just etx15p tops. Running the eq flat 12 o'clock position on the treble, mid and low on the Rane 62. No where near redline on the 62. Should have had double the headroom out of my mixer. As you can see on the lower left of the DSP display, the input gain DB rating never exceeded +0 db.

he put+3db if I had the etx I will put it on -5db

so what happened in the end, i did a gig tonight with a pair running off a generator and they cut out quite a few times, i wouldn't say i was even running them too hot, like yours i had the gain set to 0 and on the DSP it was set to -1db then -3db, has me a bit concerned about the speakers, it wasnt a power issue as none of the other gear had power issues

I have 4 of them never had an issue everything set at 0. I use a driverack and furman voltage regulator. the ETX series with subs consumes lots of power,unstable power will make them sound like crap

i would bet it was the generator not having enough power. components shut down as protection mechanism, thankfully. this is more common than expected.
