Until EVs become more repairable (notably the battery module') and part availability is controlled by the aftermarket competition, I'll stick with ICE. I can find a 90k mileage gas car for around $10,000 that I wouldn't be too worried about, as long as everything checks out and know this car will go up to 200k miles easy with routine maintenance (i.e stick with Toyota). However, the same 90k mileage on an EV is far risker because of the cost of $16,000 battery replacement and range degradation over its product life. The most expensive repair on a gas car can be done for around $12,000 and that's the engine+tranny rebuilt and includes labor AND you can still shop around. Your business works on battery repair, so you KNOW what I'm talking about.....My chariot doesn't need to be fancy with auto-pilot or whatever touchscreen exists, it just needs to get me from Point A to B, not inflate my insurance premiums, and easy to service within a 5 miles radius. EVs today is not worth the risk for the everyday working class. Maybe in 5 years when competition brings down the prices, but not today. So if you're in the market today for a cheap car, stick with gas (or invest in a hybrid like the Toyota Prius/RAV4 Hybrid that's proven).

Here's your blind spot Peter. Expensive battery replacements.

battery replacements are free for 8 years. name an ICE manufacturer that swaps engines at 8 years

Battery replacements are not as expensive as you might have heard before. Plus, battery technologies got a lot better than a decade ago.

I drive an 05 colorado with250 000 miles. I don't need 8 years, no thanks, not a sales pitch. Give me battery swap tech so I don't hang on some 10 000$ hook .please. @@evfan6037

@@satekalay $14k+ is nothing to scoff at either. People aren't going to have that dollar amount just lying around waiting to be spent.

Haha nope. Old laptops depreciate faster than gravity. Porsche Taycan. Tesla Model S Plaid come to mind. This video is pure fantasy.

Tesla lowering prices and that in turn affecting the used car marketplace is not depreciation in the same terms as ICE cars

@@Kwistenbiebel200 not sure how you got that idea, but that is not correct at all. 2023 was a record year for EV sales. Almost 1.2 million new EVs sold in 2023 in the US alone, the first year EVs broke a million sales in the US. And that's up almost 50% from 2022. And 2022 was a 33% increase over 2021. In fact, there hasn't been a year where EV sales have decreased year over year. The tesla model y is the best selling vehicle in the world. not best selling EV, best selling overall vehicle. people are not saying EVs are not worthwhile, its actually quite the opposite.

Yea I would recommend double checking the sources of videos like that because it really doesnt make sense that someone would be reporting that. Q4 EV sales for the last few months of 2023 leading up to now, showed an increase year over year by 40%. And now as of the new year, people wanting to buy EVs can take advantage of the $7500 tax credit for new EVs or $3500 tax credit for used EVs up front at dealerships, significantly reducing purchase price. This means we are likely to see sales go up not down any time soon.@@Kwistenbiebel200
