Along with running coat we need to include 1) the cost of battery replacement 2) interest for the additional 5 lakhs spent on EV vehicle. 3) The petroleum prices are in increasing trend, instead of assuming 102 for all 5 years, we can consider 10-15% increase every year

Really this is an unbiased video.. I have Innova (Diesel) and have Solar Panels installed all over roof useful for DC fast charging the EV car. The running cost of EV car will be much much cheaper than my RoyalEnfield (even when NOT considering charging via solar panels). But still, I will wait for 3 to 4 years for development of better Charging infrastructure. Only one small mistake in your assumption bro... Petrol rate will be Rs102 even after 5 years??? We should thank God, if it never reaches Rs150 by that time. Even though EB charges will go up in 5 years (say upto Rs10-12), the difference will be huge for IC engine vehicles... Hats off for your Great work bro... Keep rocking..
@ejv19633 жыл бұрын
@KanagaDeepan N, Though solar panels primarily produce DC, while charging an EV, it has to be first converted to AC and then the car converts it again to DC for storage. You can't hammer in the DC from solar panels straight into an EV battery like the roadside superchargers

Good observation, but while doing comparative analysis, one has to keep some factors constant, to make the analysis simple. You are right that petrol prices will become Rs.200 per litre but factoring that in the calculation will require more fine modelling. Similarly it is quite possible that EV battery will die much earlier and in India the word "warranty" comes with lots of if and buts.

Good information Sir. One thing I want to place here on record. The main slogan of promoting e vehicle is that it is environment friendly. But the thing is that to charge one car to its full level 30 units of power is required. So if half of the vehicle population in the country is switched to EV mode, then what would be the quantum of Power required to feed those vehicles. Wouldn't that be a factor for the power generating companies to generate more Power required for EV cars. In that case, in India which is reliant mostly on coal based thermal power plants, the additional generation of Power required for e vehicles would even pollute the environment to a greater extent. Therefore unless and otherwise energy generation in India is derived majorly through renewable energy sources, the introduction of e vehicles would add more burden on the country by adding more to the existing pollution. The fly ash remnants flowing through waterbodies near all the thermal power plants are a major disaster for our environment. We have already spoilt our environment by incessant use of coal for generation of electricity. Developed countries have strengthened their renewable energy sources and they use less quantity of coal generated power and the coal used by those countries have high calorific value when compared to the sub standard coal used for power generation in India.

Good comparison. Just correcting one thing, EV should not be just a additional car for city usage, if we're going to use only for daily commute then everyone should buy only EV. If people travel for long distance often than buy only IC engine cars. EV buyers on loan can get a tax exemption of up to 1.5L per year so hard earned money or not you would've saved a lot after 8 years. In another two years there will be a lot of charging stations and the price of battery will also reduce drastically. There is no definite study that battery should be replaced after 8 years.

Excellent. Lot of false propaganda circulating in youtube promoting Tata EV models. EV is certainly the future. But let us all not get carried away that EV is the best market to buy i 2022. Wait for 2 more years. There will be a market correction when more players enter. Lets see an example calculation with Tata Nexon. Minimum cost difference between Nexon Petrol Version and EV is 5 Lacs easily based on the variants. If you are middle class and have taken a car loan then EMI for additional 5 lacs is easily 11000 / Month which you would pay extra on top of the EMI that you would have normally paid for a petrol version and for a period of 5 years. For 11K / month you can purchase 100 Liters of petrol today which can drive upto 1500 - 1800 kms. EV is a good deal today, If you consistently drive above 2500 Kms every month for the next 5 years (factoring in the charging costs also) else you are paying unnecessarily money to bank as interest. Consider any lock down days that might come in future also, :)Petrol is not going to dry out in the next 10 years (Whole middle east will go bankrupt then :). Petrol prices will go up so as the electricity and charging costs. Environment friendly is all nonsense and a corporate marketing strategy.

Electric vehicles have an (Ingress Protection) system. A typical IP rating in an electric vehicle could be IP65 or IP67 rating, depending on the vehicle. Here the digits represent their protection against the two elements - dust and water. Thus, the higher the number, the better is the protection against these two elements. Modern-day Electric vehicle batteries have an IP67 rating. This is quite adequate as anything past IP67 is used generally for specialized equipment such a submarine, etc. An IP67 rating allows you to submerge the vehicle in water up to a meter in height for up to 30 mins without any leakage. Thus, in a situation where the car needs to encounter waterlogging or a flood-like situation which is usually about 300 mm wading depth one does not have to worry about damage to the terminals, connectors and high voltage architecture of the vehicle. Additionally, driving an electric car into a pool of water doesn’t cause any malfunction, and doesn’t conduct electricity into the water are around the vehicle. All systems, inside the battery pack, have multiple layers of protective cutoffs that activate at the first sign of water ingress. The main battery pack also has the ability to isolate itself electrically from the rest of the car.

@Basha Adam , Fossil driven power plants have pollution/emission mitigating installations like Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP), Fabric Filters (FF), Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD), wet ESP, Dry Sorbent Injection (DSI), and Mercury Control Methods (MCM). Such massive devices are impractical or expensive to be incorporated in every ICE car on the road. So even if an EV uses electricity from a coal/fossil powered plant, it would be still relatively greener than an ICE car on the road.
