EV WInterize Part 3: What's in the Frunk & Trunk- Be Prepared!

This video is about EV WInterize Part 3 - Covers Electric vehicle specific preparations you should have in your trunk and frunk for poor weather conditions or getting stuck in poor weather. Specific to BMW I3 but useful for anyone getting ready for bad weather events & getting stuck in a car for a long period of time in an EV.

Is it ok to use a power bank attached directly to the battery or through one of the 12v sockets, if the 12v battery is low?

Thanks for the question! I just recently bought an Eco Flow River 2 solar generator/power bank on a Black Friday Sale and have it connected to the i3 through a 12v socket (set to draw 4amps in the app). Since the i3 sockets turn off after ~15 minutes when the car is turned off, this protects the 12V battery from being drained when the car is off, but charges the unit when the car is on. I think this is a better option than connecting directly to the 12v battery, since that could potentially drain the 12v too much when the car is "off". I am using the River 2 as a 'buffer' for powering coffee maker and an induction stove, or using electric blanket. This pulls 300-600 watts during cooking, but it is recharging at 50 watts from the i3 in the background. So far it hasn't been a problem. The 12v sockets are capable of 140 watts (total, all sockets combined), so setting the River 2 to pull 50 watts means I can plug other 12v socket devices into the i3 at the same time.
