I used to take this aircraft a lot from LAX-TPE direct flight before the delivery of 777-300ER. Sad to see it goes to the scrappers but her service will never be forgotten by those who has been the passenger through out the years.

Always emotive to watch a 747 departing to Victorville-this is why I encourage a wing wave 👋🏻

Only 20 years and she is retired? I would think that her airframe and power plants gave a lot more life in them!

The APU has enough power to start 2 engines at once; at BA, and most operators, 2 are started with one pack one (or all off, but not necessary). Only above 2,000ft amsl or so would you start one, or very hot temps. The -400 APU could try to start all 4 at once, but could probably just about get 3 going in the right condition. Most certainly 2 at once to speed up dept. Depending on pushback space/direction/environment, either two can be started for ground safety :)

I saw this plane in Taipei last february! I also took a 747 of EVA Air, but it was the B-16408 for the Taipei-Manila route! this coming september, i will fly with EVA Air again and it will probably be my last opportunity to fly with this nice aircraft! do u know what will they do with the B-16403? will it be scrapped, stored or sell to another airline?

I sure do miss the 747 eva had flying to manila , now they use 330 and there dear tight on room , delta is one of the few airlines still flying 747

I'm sure there may be a good reason. But why didn't they fly the aircraft directly to VCV?

It's a Combi, which means that it already has the Cargo Modifications. Just too expensive to run now with fuel prices as high as they are..

I have a question, EVA crew flies this aircraft to VCV or the plane no longer belongs to EVA?

No they're not. When planes are retired, the logo is removed, because the airline doesn't own it anymore.

he is goig to be scrapped ?? he is in good conditions and not so old to be destroyed !

Economics are changing. Fuel prices are making what were perfectly good aircraft too expensive to operate. Current fuel prices are killing the global aviation market..

This B-16043 will be parked at Victorville just like the 747s retired
@brownbrownson11 жыл бұрын
i think its interesting that 747s with CF6 engines will start 1 and 2 simultaneously and then 3 and 4. in my experience i've noticed that ones with RB211s will start each engine one by one. i've never gotten a clear reason why that is.
@davidsteer81428 жыл бұрын
brownbrownson The reason Rolls Royce engines start one at a time when Pratts and ge's start two at a time is because the Rb211 starters required more power to start than the other two. When they tried to start 2 rollers one would start and the other would hang then abort.

the problem is 747's are mostly pressurized for their entire life so the fuselage is becoming weaker and weaker and eventually if the plane is not scrapped or put into a museum they will tear apart

Once electric cars like Tesla etc get really established, the oil price will drop dramatically & these ol birds will become economical again & dragged back out of the deserts.The flying public REALLY don't like flying on cramped twin engine shit boxes.

Haha end as EVA Air 747, but definitely not end of life as 747. It'll probably get sold to a third-world country's national airline. Iranian air has 30+ year old 747!
