I've always had a soft spot for the original song...and I like this version better. The French is more understandable. I also like the symbolism of one singer covering both the English and French parts, the more sweeping orchestrations, and the better match of lyrics to visuals. This is a strong update and a fantastic tribute to Bob Moline's original work. I cried a little when the song burst in with the Mounties on screen to herald a grand finale.

wow!!! just found this version/remake of a song which I have loved for years. while I am not Canadian I have spent so much time on various trips and tours there that I consider it a second home. To my neighbors to the north, yours is such a beautiful country and you have such wonderful people there. Thank you for so openly sharing it with a pseudo-Canadian citizen like myself. Listening to this songs brings tears to my eyes and such warm and happy memories. Thank you and God bless you Canada.

@@rty1955 I agree with you there, especially since the original one was part of my first trip to Disney World and Epcot. What a great trip that was

Personally I like this version more than the original. In the original, neither of the vocalists were Canadian, and Juanice Charmaine (the woman who sang the French parts did not speak French (it showed in her delivery, and was bad enough that some French Canadians I know considered it an insult). Eva Avila is both Canadian and biligual. She can sing and speak fluently in both languages.

Must've been Bob Moline's version you heard then. I heard this version when I was there in 2010 and from what I understand it hadn't been used very long at that point.

For those who aren't too familiar w/ the French lyrics, here's the translation: J'ai suivi la trace de tes oiseaux de neiges dans les forêts. J'atteins peu à peu ton coeur et je vois plaisir, comme si comme l'enfant. (I pursued the trace of your snowbirds in the woods; I casually reach your heart & I see as a child.) Canada, mon Canada; Aboutissement d'un rêve pour tous les voyageurs. Canada, mon Canada; Sur ta lingne de vie se tracent les miracles de la terre. (Canada, my Canada; A fulfillment of a dream for all travelers; Canada, my Canada; On your lifeline, the world's wonders are traced.) Canada comme une odyssée à travers les temps, tu es la fleur et la semence. Canada, tes montagnes, tes villes, et tes mers sont tout ce que j'aime. (Canada, like a journey through generations, you're the flower & seed; Canada, your mountains, cities, & seas are all that I adore.)
