1. Here, both 「廻リ」 (turn/rotation) and 「廻って」 (rotating) are written with the same kanji, although they are read differently. Writing 「めぐる」 this way is uncommon, and so I echoed the repetition by choosing the same word in English.

The German parts are quotes from the 1786 play Der Schauspieldirektor by Mozart; a one-act comedy about a theater company. The quotes used here are specifically the character Mme. Silberklang. Notably, this character’s main role is to argue with another soprano singer about which one should be the Prima Donna. Her rival sings a somber aria; Mme. Silberklang counters with a more upbeat tune.
They are both hired into the company, and subsequently clash in a prolonged comedic sequence of fights, reconciliations, and yet more fights as each declares her own superiority. A tenor singer attempts to de-escalate the conflict, and is also quoted in this song (black text).
The reference is obvious.
We chose to leave the German in the middle of the lines untranslated, because they're essentially repeating what the line has already said (just with the German language flair!) "Schauspieldirektor" is the manager of a theatre company, and "Hauptrolle" is the leading role. We decided to preserve the bilingual flair rather than make really repetitive lines. :9
Additionally, the Japanese title of this song is the title of the play, so we chose to render it as "Der Schauspieldirektor" even though it's an "English translation" (lol). The official English title of the play is "The Impresario", so both names would work.
