I cannot describe the roar in the theater on that final descent. It was soul shaking. I've never heard anything like it in my life... it was incredible, and extremely overwhelming.

@tinaloye2014 then you showed up to the wrong performance lol. I don't get when people say these ridiculous things for debuts or final performances. There were literally 8 shows a week for however many months or years, but someone decides to go to the final performance and gets upset at the cheering lol get a calendar. I'm over people's dumb choices.

@@enya2600 some of us can't just show up to new York from other countries or try their best to see the last show ever just to have it all drowned out in rowdy crowds. Might as well switch off their mics and play mosh pit ASMRs.... also it's just really impolite to see an actor give their best performance just to be cut off on their belts by scream, zero respect to their talent. Anastasia is still the worst one I ever saw. The actress was so emotional and wonderful and delivered so well but on the last notes, couldn't hear anything. Americans man...

She was fighting through tears for a lot of the show, especially the second act. She got a standing ovation at the beginning of the show and it was just an unbelievably emotional rollercoaster from then on.
@ElSings3 ай бұрын
Bro her crying on stage reminds me of my last ever high school solo. It wasn’t a play, but a concert we do every year, a 20 year tradition. It was the first year I had actually been cast in solos and I was so proud my hard work had paid off. Low and behold I ended up being on local newspaper too. I was so proud of myself. I was so dad on closing night that I was crying during bows and our closing number. I have no idea how I wasn’t bawling during my song, but probably because wir was a rock ballad. Still though. As a theater kid, that last moment under the lights when you get a standing ovation just hits so hard.

AHHHH WHAT AN AMAZING RUN EVA DID FOR THIS SHOW! Also, I personally prefer the last note with "I'm coming" that Eva does to save her voice a bit while reaching out to Orpheous, rather than the original higher note. It almost sounds more serious when considering the situation that they're in!

@christophercobb2499 ай бұрын
Yes she was definitely straining by the second time I saw her, this past summer. As a singer myself, I can tell when a singer's voice is straining through overexertion. She's a highly skilled vocal musician and professional singer, but that's not full immunity against the strain of constant belting and singing this particular score. The wear and tear can just happen over the years. Proper technique helps, but can't completely prevent the wear and tear.

@@erickavelez197you can hear it most clearly in her last “I’m coming” before the end of the clip. It sounds a bit strained and rough even though her voice is still really lovely. Her voice/tone is usually very clear and effortless for that note.

The way her voice sounds the way it does is actually because she was crying! You can see other videos of her performing this song during the show's later years, and she arguably sounds better than she did during the earlier performances!
