Man. Thank you so much for this review. I love your videos, including the short stuff. Each of your criteria is positive on both sides, but what if the design is just bad? I think the example turn method is fine, but a quick blurb about what's going on is good. Let the viewers know basically what's happening, then do a turn (especially with strategic thought in mind, like you did.) Keep up the good work! 👍

Thank you for the feedback. My feeling is that people, in general, don’t want to watch long videos to learn about games. Personally, when I look up a video, I often watch one of the top ten results that is shortest, but the challenge is finding that sweet spot that delivers the necessary amount of context and information. Anyway, appreciate that you took the time to share your feedback.

To answer your questions: the criteria is designed to be objective so I can describe the characteristics of a game. If, for example, a game had a focus on mechanics but I didn’t like it, I would simply say: “this game is not at all engaging for me” when I delivered my final thoughts.

Excellent review! For me the introductory teach of the basics of a round of the game was spot on for me. It was detailed enough for what and how you wanted to talk about it in a review part of your video. And it was detailed enough for me to get the feeling of whether I would like to try it based on how the main gameplay loop goes. And, your personal review with great scoring metric and with providing context for your thoughts and experiences of the gane, on top of the explaining of a round in the beginning part of the video, convinced me that I try this game, on BGA if it's available. Thank you!

Thank you so much. I was so encouraged by your comment, I started working on a review for Shipyard following the same format. You can help me think of what to call it: is it a "think-through" or a "talk-through"? The most precise name may be "turn overview" but that sounds kinda boring (if it were to be in the video title, for example)

@@theperfectboardgameSure, I would be happy to help. The following may be overwhelming, and yes I took some time thinking about it, but willingly cause I found it fun actually and cause I couldn't fall a sleep so it's great I had some mind occupying thinky task. No matter what, you don't have to take any of my suggestions (I of course won't be offended or anything like that - just explicitly stating so you don't think obligated in any way for any reason, because I wrote so many suggestions and you only asked for one to three - I am aware of that, it was my choice to keep thinking of so many variations cause I found it fun and I was experimenting with a new approach to generating ideas). If you decided so, feel free to take any suggestion if you like it, or mix/combine any number of them together, reorganize word order etc. or think of another in a similar style. In my suggestions, terms "turn" and "round" and even "gameplay" or any other term you may think of, are in most cases fully interchangeable, so use what you think works best, if anything. Also, singular or plural also interchangeable, as far as I am concerned. Following are just my contribution to brainstorming of ideas: Turn demystified / Turn unveiled / Turn decoded / Turn disection / Turn analysis / Turn dialysis/ Turn tactics / Turn showdown / Showcasing a turn / Turn tutelage / Round discourse / Turn manifest / Turn in a spotlight / Spotlighting a turn / Turn illuminated / Turn illustrated / Turn breakdown / Visual round breakdown / Turn insight / Understanding a round / Turn guide / Turn playbook / Turn primer / Example turn / Demoing a turn / Round demonstration / Partaking a turn / Turn basics / Round loop / Gameplay loop / Gameplay slice / Turn decisions / Mastering a turn / Take a turn / Turn experience / Round evolution / Round revelation / Round flow / Round structure / Turn visualized / Turns in action / Round in action / Round unfolded / Turn unpacked / Turn unwrapped/ Unpacking a round / Unwrapping a turn / Turn in practice / Live turn demo / Round chronicle / Round sequence / Turn actions guide / Turn exhibit Or maybe some word compounds and/or play on puns, like : Turn-think / Trunalysis / IntroTurnduction

Thank you. Brainstorming so many ideas is actually quite helpful. Right now, the one that jumped out at me (though it came as a variant off what you actually wrote) is “slice of gameplay”. I also like “turn decisions” and “round demonstration”

@@theperfectboardgame Not a problem. I am happy it helped. Go with anything you think is best suited for you. I wish you luck with that newest video you are currently working on and all your future ones. I have no doubt your content will keep being great and fresh.

It was really unique and effective showing the thought process of your potential action selection and how your first plan wouldnt have worked. Love this format!

Thank you so much for your feeedback. I just made another review (Shipyard, another Vladimir Suchy game) following the same format.

I liked this format. It gave me enough of a flavor to keep it engaging while being short enough to consume.

Thank you! I take it then that I provided enough context that you understood what the game was about?
