Evacuation orders issued near brush fire in Del Mar Heights

Firefighters stopped the forward rate of a brush fire that erupted near Del Mar Heights on Tuesday afternoon.
San Diego firefighters responded to the brush fire that sparked near Carmel Valley Road and Via Aprilia on Tuesday around 10:45 a.m. It was one acre when it started, according to Mónica Muñoz, spokesperson for SD Fire-Rescue. It grew to 19 acres as of 5 p.m. and forced widespread evacuations.
Two firefighters were hospitalized and treated for heat exhaustion, Muñoz said. Both firefighters were later released and are recovering at home, according to the San Diego Fire Department.

Nope, Careless humans. It wasn't spontaneous ignition, there isn't enough loose plant material in the reserve extension for that to be seriously considered. Torrey Pines reserve extension has always been extremely dry, it's mostly costal sage brush and torrey pines.

So this was another homeless encampment fire threatening homes. The city is responsible for us when they don't clear out those camps.
