@kimkelley6942 I saw that, too. Taking what Rick said a making it sound worse. Rick didn't say abuse Rita. Just to push back. Don't run and scream like a lil girl. But maybe Lester does it for entertainment?🤔He whoops Carl's butt and calls him names I never heard. Even uses spanky sticks. Lester isn't sweet to his animals off camera. Just a 💩 show we pay him to do

Didn't ask anything of my yearling first three days I had her...just hung out, fed...when I did ask her to move off some hay she pinned her ears and threatened me with a hip...smacked her over the rump and she flew away...has never tried me with that degree of sass again. No ear pinning, no hard face, no hip threat...some head toss now and again, some protest kick when I amp her up, and those do get addressed with a flick of the rope. Rita is what my filly would have been had I not responded with horse language. She's three now and acts more like Rick's Buddy, more whoa than go. Love her.

Saddle pad is all I ever rode my 15h Belgium with. It was thread bare when Blaze passed at 33. He didn’t need a bridle. We used our hands and tapped his neck to turn. He was the family horse. He raised six of us kids on the farm. Out in the field we would climb on his neck and he would toss us onto his back. My mom, homestead raised, taught us how to handle and ride. Everything you teach is exactly what she knew and taught us. We had no fear as we read the horses as she had taught. Miss those days. Miss my Mom. Miss my horse. Thanks Rick.

Well, I'll give Lester this, he is showing great examples of what not to do. And this will be an excellent opportunity for you to show how to unteach a horse bad habits. I agree that she's young is a plus. The mare I got as an almost 2 yr old had been abused badly, then spoiled rotten to where she thought she had to be high horse and humans were either weak or mean. We taught each other a lot.

I have been trying to be really tactful when I comment on lesters page, because he is getting a lot of hate, and it's just not needed. My advice I've been giving him is to build his bond with her first and establish that pecking order and then slowly go into saddle pad/saddle/reign training and maybe try slowing it down about 5 paces. He can do what he wants with his horse, but I just don't want to see anyone get hurt, or Rita get hurt. It just seems like he is in a hurry to train but he is skipping a lot of little steps to try to take big ones.

"Lester, she don't care about your love." So, so true. Maybe later in life when there is a bond, but how do you get Lester and the gang to understand that. Rick, everyone can get hurt on a chair. You should only have breakaway chairs. I think they sell those in Hollywood. The issue for most of us is not that he is doing that stuff now, it's what they will do in the near future that scares us because the obvious thing impatient people will do is get a small person up there next. Trust me, if there's a fire in the barn ,and the horse is in his stall it is pretty well nigh impossible to get that horse out of his stall/safe place no matter how well trained. We only managed to get one out (out of 40) and that one was right next to the outside door. Oh and nylon halters melt to their heads in a fire or just melt on the wall.

Our 1st experience as a groom taught us the important lesson of having horses taught to be led with their forelock or simple rope around the neck when the stable barn where we were working caught fire from an electrical short. Those horse that could be led away from the barn lived.

Agreed. They make most horse items to market to people, less for the good of the horse. For women, the equivalent to the halter Rita has on would be if your over the shoulder boulder holder had flappy metal connectors and a metal strap adjuster. I know most of you can feel that "digging in" feeling just thinking about it. And just imagine if on top of your shirt there were metal buckles that flapped against you, and sometimes got popped up to where it hit you in the face. Now, do you really think the horse likes that if you don't?

Another great video, Rick. I hope Lester won't rush things and will do some research before proceeding with Rita's training. He could have reached out to you before all of this, not after. My son is taking horseback riding lessons and he watched Lester's video, and his feedback was exactly like yours, and he's only 11 years old. When Lester is faced with behavioral challenges, he reacts exactly like Rita. 😊First, he needs to work on his behavior and then work with Rita. The farriers had no problem touching and checking her hooves. I trust Lester will follow your advice, and Rita and he will become a great team. P.S. Hope your nose isn’t broken. Wishing you a fast recovery!

If Jami could work with Rita without Lester butting in, she could help her a lot. Sorry, Lester, but your fear and ignorance confuses her. Jami and the other horse women on Morrow hill are treating Rita with more understanding and without fear. Together the Morrow ladies has many years of experience with horses. Lester is a bull guy, not really a horse guy. My opinion is leave the horses to the women. Leave Rita to Jami.

He gets going an is like ADD to the extreme. I think it would maybe be beneficial for lester to just work on one thing or two with her an that’s it let Jaime an Bri do the rest. Love your perspective on these videos and I know Lester and Jami do too. I know others have mentioned it...the round pen is set up, the male horses Buccees and Voodoo are now where Rita is. It's a little bit of a CF from what I've seen so far 😂, but I'm sure things will settle down. Although they're trying, Lester and Jami are the first to acknowledge their inexperience with training this little filly. Very much looking forward to your visit with them. Can't wait.

Hey Rick, I'm hoping Lester will ask You to help out training Rita. I've watched several of Your videos. I see You know & understand horses. I think I know Lester appreciates Your advice on animals. Nancy

He actually has a video on his LHL channel called “Santoro attacks” and he actually does to his bull what he should be doing with Rita. Not sure why he’s willing to physically correct a bull but not this horse.

Hey Rick, Have you seen the video on Lesters' " long horn Lester" channel called "Señorita Gets ROUNDED off!"? Voodoo and Bucky were exactly what Rita needed.

Am I right in thinking that Lester was nearly kicked in the stall because she was eating and he came in and without warning tried to start brushing her hind quarters and startling/scaring her? From what I saw I thought it a self defense move.

I wonder how old she is. I think about 12 months. They have not spent time brushing her touching legs and picking up feet. I’m just scared they will get hurt. Because they have no trust and are moving fast without getting a foundation or beginning steps.

Great video Rick hope Lester takes some notes he's trying but takes advice or criticism personally kinda defensive. He's learning as well.

I'm not thinking he takes true criticism personally as much as he takes people dogging him out personally, and I see a lot of that, especially on Rick's lives or videos. The horse thing, especially young horses are new to him and I think really he is doing all of this because he knows how much Jami loves them so he is trying to love them too
