It's main selling point is being all 50 states legal, since certain states, mine included, bans threaded barrels on handguns, which would prevent me from threading a comp onto a barrel, in order to make something close to a Roland Special. If I ever moved out of my state, then I would go the common threaded route, but that being said, my Radian combo has been phenomenal on my Glock 19!

Move. No, it’s not hard. I’ve moved states 4 times now when laws got shitty in a state. Yes you can move, it’s if you have the balls to move. I understand some people are poor and prefer to live in states that violate your constitutional rights. Don’t complain about not having threaded barrels if you’re going to keep letting the commies stick it up your tail pipe.

Demand for these things is off the chart and they could easily make money selling them. It says a lot for the integrity of the reviewer that he would honestly advise against a product on the basis of value to the customer. I have noticed the same cost vs value issue related to P365 and P320 accessories; you could buy a whole pistol for the cost of a slide and barrel combo in many cases.

I picked one up and put it on my G45. It really shines when firing heaver gr ammo and anything +p. Having both a g17 and this I feel the recoil impulse with the radian is less. My times also show an improvement with the radian. Im a full 3 tenths faster on average shooting a bill drill since running the radian. I had hit a plateau previously. Expensive? Yes. Worth it if you are looking to shave off tenths of seconds, also yes.

I am seeing them go for $299 a few places, so the cost is barely more than a case of ammo. However, for what many did pay ($379), you could even chunk port and back-bore a G19, and that would mean you didn't have the extra length and weight, and it would be as effective. I like comps, especially the CR920P, which turns the Micro 9 into a soft shooter (soft as a G17 or less to me).

The port and reem will not work as well as the added comp. Look at it from a physics stand point. Gas direction can only be to certain level ( only so much gas can be directed with equal rounds). The added weight will also help in reduction. So, physically speaking, a G19 with a light and RamJet will perform better than a G19 with ports and the same light. You know this to be true, you can't cheat physics. Its not space magic or a revilation. Look at the set ups used by master class shooters, there's a reason they all add weight and a comp.

Put thousands of rounds through mine on a 19, no issues and love it. Shoots very flat and never had slide lock issues even with a holosun on it. One of the main selling points of this comp is that it does not require a threaded barrel, which is not legal where I live. It uses a pinlock screw system. Also you're paying for the barrel which is a match barrel.

For future testing, it may be worth it to you guys to measure the length of the spring before during and after testing. Especially once it begins malfunctioning. AR15 carbine action springs have a TDP spec length of no less than 10-1/8". When new they should be closer to 11-1/4", thats what my colt ones are. The most recent PSA one I got was about an inch shorter at 10-5/8", so not yet out of spec, but it won't be long before it is. That spec is for round wire only, tubbs flatwire are longer so the spec isn't linear. I say this because I imagine that the "compressor" spring lost some decompressed length during those cycles which makes it weaker. While Radian does say that the compressor is using a flatwire spring, it does not specify the material. They could probably improve the design by upgrading to chrome silicon like sprinco or a different form of stainless like tubbs.

There’s some odd sounding things in this review. He says they have malfunctions about every 200 rounds? That’s… quite a lot. I find that hard to believe. Second he says that the gun doesn’t lock back because there’s not as much backpressure. What? The physics of that doesn’t track to me. The direction of the gas exiting the muzzle is diverted. But the back pressure should be higher, if anything. Then he says the slide cycles faster, which tracks, but not if there’s less back pressure. It sounds more like the slide is hypercycling and not locking back because the follower is not pushing up the slide stop quickly enough. Sorry to say, but I doubt this guy knows what he’s talking about.

Don't assume that, in a real fight, you'll be able to get your high-speed, low-drag tactical range firing stance (First Rule: Look Cool) on before you have to shoot. If you have to shoot from a retention position, you very well may "notice the flash, or care about the flash" when hot gas blows into your own face.

In the case of just getting a Glock 17 rather than a radian comp I think is actually kinda valid generally I think retail is now 549 599 around that and there’s always that used option from the local pawn shop think it would be really cool to see a comparison between the radian comp and say a PMM comp on a 17

Sealed the deal im going to buy more ammo. I am keeping my G45 stock other than the sro. Wanted to get a comp but mags and ammo plus more time on the range is more important to me. If i want no recoil i can always shoot my 34.

Ok so after you shoot the 1000 rounds then what?? That’s like a few range sessions and afterwards your gun will still have more recoil than if you had a comp on it. That’s like saying I’m gonna put more gas in my car instead of getting a performance suspension

So if there's not as much pressure coming back because of the compensator, should you move to a higher spring poundage or a lower spring poundage? Asking because the compensator on my G17 is causing a malfunction every 3-4 rounds.

I would think a lighter spring will help the gun cycle with less gas. A heavier spring provides more resistance to the slide.

At the price point of the Radian system, you can pick up a legit KKM Barrel and Comp or a Parker Mountain Barrel and Comp that will give you better performance and match the overall length of a G19/45 with an X300 attached. Granted, you're talking overall length similar to a G34, but if you're running an X300, you're already at that length anyways.

The price point for these are high. I do really enjoy mine and i just picked a second one up ONLY because it's a blem directly from Radian with a 15% discount code. So shipped was like $288 I think. At that price point it's worth it, but at the $400 price point, not so sure.

Besides competition & fun at the range. Wouldn't a comp on a pistol be pretty blinding in a low light to night situation. Which is where you most likely would need it in a self or home defense situation? I'm curious to see what the pistols look like shooting at night with & without the comps? Maybe I'm wrong & it's gonna be a big flash anyways? I would think the comp would make it worse pushing all gasses upwards

Personally my compressor rsa was out of spec. It was too short . Had all kinds of troubles with it. Like it just didn't provide enough spring tension and would actually work itself out of position. I only bought it because the configuration of my 45 wouldn't run properly with the comp. I went back to the stock rsa and tweaked some of the other parts closer towards stock and got mine running perfectly.

I find it interesting that you mention it being not significantly better than a 17. I run a 17 currently and was wondering if I should buy a 45 + ramjet. Where I live it would be 1500$ plus. So yeah I stick with my 17

I own a DR920 and an MR920. I have a Shadow Systems comp for my DR920 and I bought the Ramjet for my MR920. I've fired all of them with and without the comps and ramjet back to back with 124 grain NATO spec ammo (typically a +P spec). Regardless of what the guy in this video claims, the Ramjet in the 19 shoots better than a non comped 17 with hot ammo. This guy is wrong. Physics prove him wrong. A 19 will expel more gas than a 17 because of barrel length (you know this is true). All comps work with available gas (you know this also). So physically speaking the more gas you can redirect tbe more effective Reduction will be. NATO spec ammo through a 19 with a light has less felt recoil and muzzle rise than a 17 with light and no comp. Adding a comp to the 17 makes it "better" than the 19. I hope this makes sense. I'm an IPSC master class shooter. (Its not as important as some think) Everyone who race use comps on open pistols, for a reason. Its basic physics.

Comp’s catch lead also which can be a pain in the azz to clean out. It needs a softer recoil spring. It helps with not only rise but also cyclic rate and return/dipping. Single port will never stack up against something like the Herrington multi port..

I’m not sure if it’s urban legend or not, (still, I heed the warnings) that Glock doesn’t recommend a metal guide rod as it has now flex and can eventually cause slide damage. I’m a prepper of sorts so I always have a spare oem rod and spring…and also a spare oem striker assembly. $20&$50. And that higher than oem spring rate should only be needed for +p ammo. So the fact it eventually failed during your testing makes me very wary. I want it as it’s beautiful. Have threaded barrels already….now I’m thinking PMM.
