✎ Jordan B. Peterson's Top 10 Rules For Success: In this video we're going to learn how to improve our lives by analyzing our take on Peterson's rules for success.
In this empowering video, Evan Carmichael teams up with renowned clinical psychologist and professor Jordan B. Peterson to dive deep into practical life advice and strategies for personal success. From setting clear goals to understanding the importance of a routine, Peterson provides invaluable insights into making meaningful changes in your life. Whether you're struggling with procrastination or seeking to refine your daily schedule, this video is a must-watch for anyone looking to enhance their productivity and overall well-being.
Peterson emphasizes the significance of stopping detrimental habits and actions that you know are not in your best interest. He suggests starting with small, manageable changes and gradually building up your discipline through consistent, positive actions. This approach not only clears your vision but also strengthens your resolve, making it easier to tackle bigger challenges. Furthermore, Peterson discusses the concept of making a schedule that reflects the day you want to have, rather than a restrictive list of chores, highlighting the balance between responsibility and reward.
Throughout the video, Evan encourages viewers to engage with the content by sharing their favorite rules for success and the insights that resonate the most. This interaction creates a community of learners and achievers who support each other in their journeys toward personal excellence. By integrating Peterson’s advice with daily actions, viewers are invited to explore how incremental changes can lead to significant life improvements, demonstrating that with the right mindset and tools, everyone is capable of achieving greatness.
= PETERSON'S RULES =
1. STOP DOING THE WRONG THINGS
2. MAKE A SCHEDULE
3. CLARIFY YOUR THOUGHTS
4. TAKE THE MEANINGFUL PATH
5. SPECIFY YOUR GOALS
6. STOP SAYING THINGS THAT MAKE YOU WEAK
7. ADOPT THE MODE OF AUTHENTIC BEING
8. LEARN FROM YOUR ERRORS
9. HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOURSELF
10. AIM HIGH
= BONUS =
* HAVE A ROUTINE
* DON'T THINK ABOUT THE PAST
* ESTABLISH YOURSELF
✎ According to Peterson, he learned to read at the age of 3, and attended the United Church of Canada with his family. After graduating from Fairview High School in 1979, Peterson entered the Grande Prairie Regional College to study political science. He later transferred to the University of Alberta, where he completed his B.A. in 1982. In 1985, he moved to Montreal to attend McGill University. He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology under the supervision of Robert O. Pihl and Maurice Dongier in 1991. Peterson lived in Massachusetts, while teaching and conducting research at Harvard University as an assistant and an associate professor in the psychology department. During his time at Harvard, he studied aggression arising from drug and alcohol abuse, and supervised a number of unconventional thesis proposals. In 2004, a 13-part TV series based on his book Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief aired on TVOntario. He has also appeared on TVO on shows such as Big Ideas. Peterson was nominated for the position of Rector of the University of Glasgow in March 2017.

Dr. Peterson basically tells us what we should have learned in childhood but were never taught. In that sense, he is a stern but fair father figure... which many of us desperately need. He is strict, but fair and most importantly what he says resonates with many of us as truth to a degree that we trust these words and we gain the ability to slowly change our lives. Thank you Dr. Peterson.

Scott Aveles that maybe how you feel, however if you have digested any material on relationships, self help, business, success of running a business, or you realize, there are some common themes not only from him but others, of what you would consider successful. However since has PhD he can communicate it more and translate it more effective then most. You do not have to believe Me or anyone else, but you notice it.

Scott Aveles ...Scott...you sound mildly pissed off...but realistically...this is highly educated researcher of human behaviour...who also has a private practice where he treats exactly the kind of challenges he is talking about. Further...if you actually counted the numerous lectures he has conducted..that are right here on youtube...it is impressive...you think those talking points just suddenly appear?....dont think so....actually this guy probably has worked harder than most of us to develop the body of work he has put forward....thats a lot of research..a lot of organization....lot of work.... You can certainly disagree with his positions...but you are clearly wrong in thinking this academic has not worked a hell of a lot..and created hell of a lot in his life up to this point...most disagree with that sentiment...

Instead I should negotiate with myself and say, okay i know i’m not going to quit outright, so how about I stop smoking on weekends, and if i think i can do that then i’ll try to implement it, if i fail, well then i’ll say to myself, okay how about I don’t smoke on sundays? and boom i achieve that, then you slowly move up and expect setbacks

Jordan Peterson has saved so many people from ruination it seems. It's quite humbling to see the effect this man has had, given the rough run the media gave him, it reminds you that one person can make a difference. He's red pilled more people, sure, but most importantly he's helped people reform their lives in some amazingly productive ways.

Not usually a fan of the intellectual type but Jordan Peterson intellect is NOT from an ego place but from an intuitive place - knowing right from wrong. His sincerity and willingness to bear the barbs from those politically correct intellectuals who hate him are inspiring and somehow endearing.
@craigcoletta9380
@craigcoletta9380 6 жыл бұрын
With respect NancyLee, I think you miss the point entirely by suggesting that Professor Peterson's intellect comes from an "intuitive" place. He's highly educated and clearly deeply thoughtful -- he's worked HARD to create uncommon sense, and that seems to be the oposite of the "intuitive" mode. I think of the type of person whom, when faced with a solid argument that they happen to wish was not true, attempt to dismiss it by saying "You're over complicating things...MY position is just 'common sense (i.e. intuitive)"' because they're incapable of or unwilling to engage in hard mental work. Then I remember my very wise Dad's maxim: "'At any level of complexity, 'common sense' is rarely either common or sense." No offense meant, but I think you might want to consider this in re: your admiration for Prof. Peterson (which I share).

His ability to consistently help me articulate my thoughts and motivate my sense of self is truly astounding. Hygiene experts tell you not to make your bed immediately because that traps the moisture from your body between the sheets and encourages bacterial growth. Better to pull the sheets apart and let the bed air out first. Personally, I have always thought that making the bed was the most inane chore ever. Who are you making it for? If you're making it for yourself, what a waste of time. If you were making it for someone else, you'd put fresh sheets on the bed. So why bother at all?
@TheMiist

anonygent interesting. I'll brush my teeth first from now on. Youre making it for yourself and for others I suppose. You're creating an organized living space. If you dropped papers on the floor of your room would you leave the room incl chaos? If so perhaps your mind is chaotic and you need to work on sorting yourself out. Just my two cents. If you align the small things you can focus on the big things

Thank you. Dr. Peterson is all over the internet right now and I recently discovered him, as I feel many people are doing at this time. I suppose his popularity is partially due to his refreshing reminder of the importance of responsibility and how it affects our reward systems and mental health. He calls us young people to focus on improving ourselves as individuals before trying to fix the world that we know nothing about. Dr. Peterson is influencing a new wave of productive and self-aware entrepreneurs, and I think that his lessons on the biblical stories will inspire a mass of people who felt a void in their life by reminding them the purpose of Christ, which was the ideal self, without being religious about it. He is dominating young minds and that's a good thing..

Dr. Peterson, you will probably never see this but you have changed my life. 1 year ago I was a homeless, addicted, pathological, pathetic, self centered, mass critic, who shucked responsibility and was a negative influence on Anything and anyone in my vicinity. Today, I am tobacco free, meth free, and no longer homeless. I’m improving myself daily by following your teachings. I started with refusing to litter. I threw away all my trash no matter how far I had to walk to do so. I quit smoking cigarettes and later meth. I got a job, then an apartment. Finally a bed (and I make my bed everyday!) I shower daily now. I follow through on my commitments, and I’m slowly identifying and improving my true self. I’ve come face to face with my shadow and he was far more evil than I ever would have hoped for and I choose to muzzle him regardless. It’s an ongoing journey but I’m a better person and thereby the world is plagued by one less parasitic knucklehead thanks to you! Much love ❤️

We need more people like this guy. He's a PhD shrink, but he seems like a good guy. Not so much a 'good guy', more like he's an intellectual that is more than happy to share his wisdom. Education these days is being controlled by a bunch of weak minded privileged people who have never had to struggle to receive the benefit of affluence. I guess that they're bored with shopping and video games so they decide to try and dismantle the system that has inadvertently showered them with unearned wealth. Those SJW's are inviting totalitarianism, jack boots, big brother, along with the destruction of the inner values that actually fulfill people. Things like love and understanding and the acceptance of the fact that we all have a lot to learn. Keep up the good work Dr. Peterson, wish I had you as a prof. Thanks from Vancouver

Celebrities don't inspire. They sell. They sell themselves first, then products like clothes, makeup, cars, jewerly and the list is eternal. That's what celebrity is meant to do; a false image built to sell a lifestyle ( we will never have) and products that are mostly useless. It's ALL FAKE.

I think #6 and #7 are related ideas. Stop saying things that make you weak is thought provoking. When he says he had to stop saying 95% of what he was saying because they were not well thought out or he was just repeating dogma that he had heard somewhere. Stripping yourself down to 5%, like a small flame of pure intention, and building from there. it's a powerful idea.

Wow! Stop saying things that make you weak. I accept that I am someone who truly commits to being a better person everyday yet I have struggled to understand the difficulty of my daily "climb". The words I am speaking are "depleting the tread on my hiking shoes" and "shortening the length of my hiking stick". So when the grade of the challenge gets steep I slip, lose traction, or slide back. I need to hear the words, the defeating words and instead breathe in confidence and faith. I have to admit I am saying things that defeat me. Of course anything I allow myself to say I will hear as truth whether it is true or not. This rule will have me on guard for where I make the climb harder. Thank you Evan for all you do to make the world better.

His brilliance is also part of the challenge in societal discourse - How on earth do you bridge the gap between brilliant people and debaters at lower level. Dear Evan, Thanks for the Vid. Most important takeaway for me....."Stop saying things that make you weak." This is an area of severe detriment for me. I am conscious of it, but can't stop. My friend at work just expressed Peterson's thought. She told me, if you say that, then that is what you are, and/or will become. You are NOT that. So stop saying it. I sincerely hope to follow my friend and Peterson's advice. For it is spot on.

Just wanted to write this down in hopes that I will remember it. Thankyou to JP for sharing your wisdom and you Evan for spreading it #BTA We derive our sense of motivation either internally or externally. You can choose to "crack the whip", do something, crack the whip and then do something however eventually this becomes an endless loop of labour and procrastination as in this way, you feel forced into action and thus you essentially become a slave to your mind. Instead, you can choose to have a conversation with yourself. This is internal; no longer an external motivator. It becomes drive. Through this, you become much more self-aware, much more present and much more productive. This is infinitely more empowering.

wayne Rivers - What is G-d? Good? God? Yes, he is good but he is not God. Only God is God. And for God's sake, learn how to spell. Or is this some kind of primitive superstition where you don't dare to spell out the word God in all its glory? God is great. I don't think that God would be so small and miserable as to be upset if you spell out His referent in English clearly. And does this only apply to English? Does it apply to Arabic, Herbrew, Zulu?
