Evan Carmichael Very awesome video!! I have to say this guy Simon is what I'd like to learn to be like. His message is what I want to spread about. I'm a human lover. I love all of Gods creatures and I love his energy. I have the same energy. I'm aooo glad to have discovered him and you. I love all ten rules. They all feed one another to make success. Thank you sir.
@inponderland6 жыл бұрын
1. Break the Rules -- just don't get in the way of anybody else getting what they want 2. Train your mind -- nervous vs. excited 3. Be patient -- most things worth having are a journey 4. Take accountability -- you can take credit for wins, if you take accountability for losses 5. Outdo yourself -- strive to beat yourself every day, not your competitors around you. 6. Stack the Deck -- choose to be in an environment where you strengths align 7. Be the last to speak -- hold your opinions until everyone has spoken. 8. Be authentic -- your decisions and actions are symbols. like symbols attract 9. Find your passion -- what do you love, and how can you apply similar principles in your work 10. Start with WHY -- why ... how .... what (see: the Golden Circle)

I like this, but if everyone did this then it wouldn’t work.
@andrewwright95122 жыл бұрын
@@Chris-tg3qy It works where there is an understanding that everyone will get to speak... if they want to. I'm part of an online community where, at the start of a discussion, they say, "Remember, if you are from a demographic whose voices are privileged, please wait while those whose voices are often silenced speak or ask their questions first." Being a CIS gendered, straight, white, middle-class male, you better believe I shut the hell up... but I have never once missed out on asking the question burning in me; I just have to wait for the moment. There's no competition for air time when everyone understands that there is no competition for air time. When you chair a meeting, start out with the ground rules. Work to make the silenced voices heard. Make sure everyone knows it's not a competition; you're all there for the same purpose. Maybe you start out the new year in that way. Maybe next year you give it a go... then let us know how it went. Were people more collaborative? Did people spend more time acknowledging one another's ideas? Did the ideas the women/poc spoke make it into the minutes under their own names, and not under the name of the next white male to speak? Speak last. Lead by your actions. See change happen before your eyes.

Here is my situation . I wasted 20 years doing my passion with music only to realise that i should have learnt the business side of it . From my experience fellows , this is what they don't talk about, always understand the business side of your passion and have passion for both the business and passion or else u go broke and passion will be meaningless so, business side of your passion and the "passion" go hand in hand but for some reason they just dont emphasise on the business side of passion... in my opinion.

When I started, I would do anything to be allowed to stay in the kitchen after my shift has finished an would work till my nose bled(literally) and all whilst having smile on my face. This attitude brought to me a load of experience and success but eventually people started using me which led to me being depressed for about 6 years and nearly becoming an alcoholic. I am making a comeback to being "myself" again but this time I am going to be much smarter about it and more "cold blooded" in decisions that I take how I "market" my skill.

I have always loved Simon Sinek's presentations. I love to learn from him. "At the Apple education summit, 100% of the Executives spent 100% of their presentations talking about how to help teachers teach and how to help students learn." "The infinite player understands sometimes you're ahead and sometimes you're behind." "The goal is to be better than themselves." How can we become better than we were yesterday? Nicely said.

Elizabeth Nelson , if they wanted to help students, teachers and schools, why not lower the prices for them and how have they helped schools? They are a computer company who sells computer to the schools sounds like a business. Doesn't sound like they are helping them. Perspective.

Only pushing to become better and better than thyself won't get you to far from panic, anxiety, and stress this days. You can break rules and everything you want still happiness won't happen. There still will be lots of struggle..The secret to living life with integrity/success and joy lies in being interested in you, in knowing your nature, in being curious to know your natural abilities, and only then you can open up for having that direct experience with what you are and not only with what you want. The rest/success will come with more eas...Our brain this days is trained to run and run after new ideas or old ideas that are made to look new. We have to pay attention to this mental tendency as it is another trup ....Simon is good, there is no doubt, and still like all of us he is trying to figure out things ....

I'm certain that all of my present vibrations and synchronicities are the result of my watching this video!!! I am really aware that my challenge lies within a habitual neural pathway of seeing what prevents me from a plethora of items. I have been taking more action presently and am struggling a bit with my temper of society and their recent display of greed during chaos. Yet, I feel more empowered and aware and can see it all as a whole. It is kind of refreshing to be here and I strive everyday to get the sense of why I am "REALLY" here! I have a book about INTUITION I believe will assist me. I am sooo grateful you did this video! I have to figure out how to help them other than them ignoring my posts for years in their behalf. I yearn to be sooooooooo effective. Your speech is delivered with such needed clarity and flows gently and literally refreshes the soul. I love the way your speech is so harmonious. We actually engage our deepest feelings! I love why you do it!!! Maybe I want to be the one doing what you do but am scared.

I disagree. For instance on the other hand, surround yourself with people who never agree with your way of thinking and you may believe you are alone and hold none of the same ideas that others do. He said he goes where he is wanted, which I take to mean where people are willing to listen, not necessarily agree. I think being human means we need some degree of acceptance and appreciation, otherwise we lose all enthusiasm and motivation. Crucially what I don't believe he means is carry and echo chamber around you at all times and never leave it.

I don't think that rule means that, one thing is "do not want to be with people who think diferent than you" and other is "do not want to be with people who don't want you there"
@KMX226 жыл бұрын
I agree, however, I think the way to re-frame is: "to be around people that support and believe in you, not those who object (consciously or unconsciously) or are indifferent to what you're trying to accomplish."

I really enjoy listening to Simon Sinek, but paused the video to comment on rule #1. In his example, Simon said he forfeited choice by randomly taking 2 bagels. That means there were different bagels available. Logically, the number of bagels is limited, and the number of the type of bagels he chose is an even smaller number. Imagine if you had waited in line to get a Cinnamon Crunch Bagel but there were none left because Simon cut in line and grabbed the last ones that were meant for you? "You can go after whatever you want, you just cannot deny anyone else to go after whatever they want." Well, he just denied that person.

Montaz Meah II I think he could have denied himself a bagel which is worst. And there was no rule about making lines for a free bagel which makes his point pretty valid. But at first I had the same thought you had.
@prayerangel17 жыл бұрын
They make cinnamon crunch bagels??????
@Commodore4eva7 жыл бұрын
He didn't deny anyone what they wanted which is a free bagel. The issue is the "line" , the line is subjective it doesn't exist. Anyone could have leaned-in like him or went around on the sides to get the bagels and everyone would have had what they wanted faster. Its simple, if everyone thought like him about getting what they want by taking action they would have done the same-thing. Take the bagel and replace it with increased income or happiness, no one needs to go in a line and wait their turn for that, but yet anyone does since its what you "have" to do. Get rid of the subjective "line" and actually take action to get what you want in life as long as you're not taking away the possibly of someone taking that same action you took.

Here is my take on the first rule: His friend values time more than the free food, while the speaker just exploits the peoples' kindness and courtesy. Imagine everyone is acting like the speaker, the scene would have been a fighting scene. What if there are just limited amount of bagels there, he would just have deprived people in the line from having a bagel. I would skip the queue, buy my own food, and spend more time on self-improvement, so that I can afford better things in life. Out of the 10 rules, Rule 10 is my favourite.

Bryan Loo dude you missed the whole point though, you have millions of people who want what you want, there's 2 types of talented people that want the same thing, one person wants it, but makes excuses for the problems and obstacles, the other person is tenacious, would go after it so bad to the point it seemed like he was gonna die if he didn't get what he wanted & nothing can stop him
@yan9903326 жыл бұрын
I get the point, but it is a bad example. There is a saying in chinese, 'a noble man makes his wealth in a proper way' (君子爱财 取之有道). There is no shortcut to success. Use the road less travelled (Rule no. 1: break the rules). Why do you want to waste your time in the line when you can spend your time fulfilling your bigger goal/dream. Take care my friend.
@spreadlove77616 жыл бұрын
Bryan Loo I agree but we are talking about 2 different things , he was just saying, it's ruthless bro, someone else will take your spot if you don't seize the opportunity
@LucidSunset7 жыл бұрын
On the bagel thing, wouldn't you possibly deny someone from getting a bagel that waited in line but by the time they box they were all gone? What would that teach that person? That they followed order and rules and left empty handed but the person they saw bend the rules got what they wanted. Just thinking too hard haha. It's a thin line.
