Interesting to see everyone's different thoughts on the song, personally, I see it as a reflection on realizing one's own hypocrisy. How do you deal with the guilt? What do you do about the image you made for yourself other people's eyes? Can you mend the broken relationships you've created? To me, it raises those questions, and simply says "I won't be you anymore". Even though, it's as if none of us can leave behind our faults. We are everybody's fool.

It reminds me of a group of "friends" my sister once had. All good fun and happiness untill my sister got depressed because of medications she had to take because she suddenly got epilepsy. When she suddenly wasn't her happy self anymore and needed someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on they all scattered off and ran. It even got to a point where she tried to kill herself with pills. Luckily this was years ago, and now she has better medications (ones that don't cause depression), new friends, some of which are always there for her. I am greatfull for my big sis that she taught me so many lifelessons, like this one. This song always makes me think back of that time.

I think we all know somebody like this in our lives. Somebody that acts like they're perfect and you can see right through it but it's like nobody else can. I've known several of these types. The bad thing is when a friend is dating a type like that and no matter how much you try to tell them they're not this perfect person they pretend to be they refuse to see it until they end up hurt. In some cases they still see the person as perfect in every way and refuse to give up on them even though they've moved on to their next victim.
@starlitsky702710 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. But I also have a different interpretation. I could make a story out of this. You see a guy/girl and you fall for him/her. She/He seems so perfect. For a while, you date that person. But then, he does this not because he/she loves you, but to use you. When you see his way of doing things are different, you start getting suspicious. Then one day, he/she betrayed you simply by not helping you with something you desperately need to do, or he/she kept breaking promises, or whatever. You ponder on this after Mass one Sunday. Suddenly, the pieces became a whole image. So you go to his/her house the next day and tell that person it's over. The End. What I'm trying to say here is that there are people who are wolves in sheep's clothing. They would pretend to like you or be nice, but it's the opposite. So we shouldn't be gullible people. I'm glad my mom told me about this. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't know this.

I love this song so much. It really describes a lot about our social standards now. People always assume that you have to be perfect to fit in. This isn't as strict in common life as it is for celebrities though, if you notice that everyone pounces on every little mistake ever made by any famous person. The truth is, that everyone is going to make a horrible mistake, and there's nothing that can be done about it. Putting up a 'perfect' front and creating that standard for everyone just makes it that much more difficult for people. I really enjoy this song and it always makes me so sad. (In a good way sad, though)

Well, the song (Everybody's Fool) is an eye-opener, because no matter how many celebrities we have in this world, little did we know that they have their own lives known only to themselves. It's also a song which can be something against false advertising, stereotypical discrimination shown in the media and in real life, even criminal acts considered to be discriminative and offending to natural law and rights, especially in the religions across the globe. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, even celebrities make mistakes, for no one is really perfect. Rambling? Honestly, I understand. Sometimes I felt that our world is lost to illusion over all the stereotypical standards.

I start crying whenever I listen to Amy's songs. My life is utter sh*t right now. I'm stressed out from all my schoolwork to try and bring my grades up so I can get into a really good school, 2 people in my family died in the same month in part of the year that's supposed to be happy fun time, I'm talking about summer vacation, and the stress has drug me to the point where I sneak all nighters just to get this dam schoolwork over with and get rid of this stress. I keep getting depressed very VERY easily, and I keep having thoughts about just killing myself and not having to go through this sh*t life I'm going through right now. And I don't wanna hear any 'I'm so sorry for you' comments. I don't care what other people say, I know that they're just trying to comfort me even though they don't understand the crap I'm going through right now.

"Everybody's Fool" Perfect by nature. Icons of self-indulgence. Just what we all need, More lies about a world that... ...never was and never will be. Have you no shame? Don't you see me? You know you've got everybody fooled. Look, here she comes now. Bow down and stare in wonder. Oh, how we love you. No flaws when you're pretending. But now I know she... ...never was and never will be. You don't know how you've betrayed me. And somehow you've got everybody fooled. Without the mask, where will you hide? Can't find yourself lost in your lie. I know the truth now, I know who you are, And I don't love you anymore. It never was and never will be. You don't know how you've betrayed me. As someone who has gained increasing popularity in my space, this song feels heavier and heavier each time I listen to it. I'm not a liar, and I don't pretend to be something I'm not. But people look at me. They think I'm perfect. They think I've got it all figured out. They praise me endlessly. "You're so pretty." "How are you so perfect?" "I wish I could be like you." The endless praises feel so empty because I know none of what is said is true. I know that I'm not perfect. I don't have it all figured out. As a matter of fact, I feel so behind in my life. I have thousands of fans that think I can do no wrong, but I wish they could just see me for the *real* person that I am. For the normal, flawed mess of a person that I am. I haven't listened to this song in years. It has such a new and intense meaning now.

LYRICS: Perfect by nature. Icons of self-indulgence. Just what we all need. More lies about a world that never was and never will be. Have you no shame? Don't you see me? You know you got everybody fooled. Look here she comes now. Bow down and stare in wonder. Oh how we love you. No flaws when you're pretending. But now I know she never was and never will be you don't know how you betrayed me and somehow you got everybody fooled. Without the mask where will you hide? Can't find yourself. Lost in your lie. I know the truth now. I know who you are. And I don't love you anymore! It never was and never will be. You don't know how you betrayed me. And somehow you've got everybody fooled. Never was and never will be. You're not real and you can't save me. And somehow now you're everybody's fool.

Lol I love how everybody has these weird interpretations about this song even though Amy herself said it was written for her sister who was idolizing celebrities like Christina Aquilera and Britney Spears.
@cravenmorehead73663 жыл бұрын
That's the great thing about music you the listener can interpret it however you like.
@zaynes50943 жыл бұрын
@@cravenmorehead7366 Exactly. Where some personalize it and find themselves being the 'me' or 'I' in this, others might just say 'Oh, she just wrote it about her sister." Which is actually cool because I knew she had another sister, another song she wrote called HELLO, but I didn't know there was a second sister. Interestingly deep yet vague enough lyrics to have individuals who listen, and actually listen to the lyrics, be able to gather their own individual feelings on the song. The meaning of the song can vary from person to person and from one type of person to another. That's one part of the beauty of Evanescence and similar bands.

What pisses me off about this story is not so much the antagonist, but the fact that so many people are being so easily fooled by that person. Annoying how most people just refuse to look deeper, like somebody's true self is just out there on display and not their actions, but their words and appearance actually portray them. That's shallow, naive and stupid. Why not blame the sheep as equally as the wolf?
@lv-gl9dm9 жыл бұрын
Because sometimes the sheep just are more willing to see the 'good' in people. The most suspicious ones are the people who have already been hurt.

My dilemma is different, i am nobody's fool but my own. i am the kind of person who finds it difficult to make true friends, because of my slightly bi-polar nature. i have heard all kinds of things from my friends (you are quiet, you talk a lot, etc..). and as such, nobody trully knows what lies in my heart, not even my family, and not even me. Am i subconciously putting on a mask when i am around others; or have i not found my true self that i have had to try to become everyone, simply to please someone else?

@wowwar29 жыл бұрын
Doug Jones i think we have a lot in common. something i learned recently is that you shouldn't hide it, because you really can't. u could try for as long as u can but eventually it will re-surface. right now, i am trying to live "with it", i try to show it off as early as possible to friends, and try to get them accustomed to it until they feel comfortable.
@justhere40229 жыл бұрын
+Mazin Elshazali yeah I do that too. like the only time I show weakness is after something severe such as my bf breaking up with me. All the emotion came out that day. The only people that know about my more depressive side are a few friends but I still don't even tell them a quarter of anything bad happening. I'm too self conscious and I fear they'll grow tired of me

People say that Hollywood Undead best fits CreepyPasta cause it talks about killing, blood, guts extra but I say Evanescence fits it more. Both bands are dark and rock yes, but the songs that Evanescence sings like "Everybody's Fool, Bring me to Life, Imaginary, Disappear, extra" they all fit them no matter what there story is about. Hollywood Undead only fit some of the CreepyPastas but not all like Evanescence!

This song reminds me so much of a friend of mine. We were really close because we grew up together, practically sisters, and everyone thinks she's just so perfect. But because I've grown up with her, I know her really well. She's hurt me several times, but no one else knows (except my Mom) and she's never apologized for it and acted like it never happened. I've tried to make other friends but I'm really bad with social situations and she's also like my sister and I know she cares about me and she has family issues and acts out, but I still feel it's no excuse for the way she treats me, especially when she says she cares about me. And I care about her, too. She's like a sister. So it's really hard for me to pretend like the past doesn't bother me and that she's never apologized for the ways she's treated me. And she doesn't do this to other people. Just me. Maybe it's because she knows me so well and doesn't feel the need to pretend and "knows" I won't leave her so feels free to take out her frustration on me or something. But no matter what, it still really hurts and I wish we could go back to how things were when we were [much] younger and she hadn't started pretending. And the thing that gets me the most? Everyone thinks she's so amazing and perfect even though she isn't. But even her "closest friends" don't know how she can be. Just me and our close family-friend circle. I wish there was a way I could help her, but I also don't want to be hurt again. After all, she's part of the root of my trust issues. Sorry for the life story. This song really hit home.
@starlitsky70279 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't keep all this a secret. Sometimes, you need to tell the person who's offending you what you're feeling because of their actions. Good communication is important in our lives. I know this is easier said than done, but you have to. Or maybe if you cannot handle it by yourself, just tell the teacher or her mentor (if you have mentors in your school) about friendship stuff.
@AranelEruvyreth9 жыл бұрын
Caliya Ledesma Haha, yeah that's not going to work. We're both freshmen in college now (different colleges) so we rarely see each other any more. We even went to different high schools, so we really mostly only saw each other when our families got together and at Youth Group events and Sunday mass. I will admit, that I've been pretty much avoiding her. We still talk every once and a while, but it's rare. I just wish there was a way that we could fix our relationship because I really do consider her a sister. I just don't know how. It doesn't help that our collective families have been growing steadily apart in the last few years (my mom and her mom have been friends for years but she rarely ever sees her around any more and her younger brother used to be best friends with mine but he got into some really bad stuff and just started turning into a horrible influence so my brother rarely talks to him anymore and her younger sister doesn't really acknowledge mine anymore even though they used to be friends....so, yeah. It's a mess). But still, thanks for the advice.
