At one time, my best friend, my "sister", wanted to commit suicide by taking a load of sleeping pills, hoping she wouldn't wake up the next morning. See, her dad was a drunkie who liked to beat her up when he had really bad. And her mom was filing for divorce, but the long months before it was final, life for her was torture. I'd prayed for her that night when she tried to commit suicide. Luckily, the next morning, she woke up, perfectly fine. When i got to school to see her, alive and smiling at me, i'd burst into tears with happiness knowing i'd still be here with her. And now, two years from that incident, she lives peacefully with her mom, and always tells me how i'd encouraged her to stay in this world. And now we are even closer friends because of it. I will always love you, Senpai~Sammy!

For all those asking if this song is about suicide: it can be if you interpret it that way. However, Amy and Ben wrote it based on the 9/11 attacks. The lyrics keep it simple and relatable enough, it's just someone about to die or in the process of dying, by their choice or not, who's reflecting on their life and saying goodbye.

This song reminds me of a girl dying in their boyfriend's arm after trying to protect them. The boy is just holding her close telling her not to fall asleep, not to close her eyes, in fear of losing her as the girl is no longer afraid of dying, trying to tell him, it'll be alright and in the end, the girl dies but not before saying "Goodnight"... This basically sounds like so many books, fan fiction, and shows I've seen and this song goes perfectly with it.

"Closing your eyes to disappear, You pray your dreams will leave you here, But still you wake and know the truth, No one's there"I can really relate to this part of the song since I suffer from something called maladaptive daydreaming, this condition causes me to have really intense daydreams and I spend more time in my daydreams than in the real world even though I know that they aren't real

This is so much better than the sex crazed music we have now (I'm not against sex, I just think that emotion is more important) and even though it's a bit emo and gothic, it's way more awesome than most other music

Lol you must only listen to pop music nowadays, what an ignorant statement to make about today's music

This song is similar to a story I wrote for English a couple of weeks ago, I discovered this song today. Beautiful! It will also be a reminder of the time I got my first A Star, if u dunno what that is, it's like A++ or full marks.

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate..." - Yoda People don't hate you, they fear what people like you could accomplish despite the fact that what they believe says you are less than them. Their hate just means you are already above them....

And hate leads to suffering. . . Oh well. It was too late for me anyway * jumps into battlefield to fight till death against many enemies * who needs a long life, burn the candle of life at both ends!! -dark side

The most underrated song. The opening is a spine chiler. Freaking epic so epic this should have been an anime credit song.

I honestly love it whenever people upload lyric videos and they're like, "I do not own this song". You don't say. I actually fucking thought that this was Amy Lee's official channel for a second. Thanks for clearing that up.

It's for copyright you have to give the owners credit

I've seen many videos place it in the description (and the title, in annotations, and in the video itself too) that ended up getting taken down anyway.

+Steve Eidem That's because KZbin's copyright ID system is a pile of shit. You do have to give credit, otherwise it's illegal to post it entirely. However KZbin doesn't give a shit and will take things down anyways do to how easily manipulatable and flawed the system is.

I’ve always loved Evanescence since I was a kid when the Daredevil movie came out, but I’m gonna be that guy right now, anyone else here after Christian Cage’s signing with AEW?

This song is inspired by the 9/11. It's a song sang from the perspective of someone that was in that building watching how the plane was in the building's direction. What would you do if you know you were about to die? What's or who's on your thoughts or who would you call to say what to them before taking your last breath. So in a way it tells about that person thinking in their family or loved ones. It's deeper than it seems. Now listen to it from this perspective in mind, you'll see it matches and this was told by Amy and Ben back in 2003 in a Toazted interview.
