If all else fails, what is God saying in this instance? Easy peasy: Deuternomy 18:21-22: And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’-when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him. But there is more. Many of these same false prophets will spend eternity in Hell right along side the atheists, scoffers, and agnostics who also rejected the message of Christ's salvation. Oh, it will be a scene, man.

I had to leave my church 10 years ago after being a member for 30 years. The manipulation within the body of Christ was too much. They have been taken over by false prophets and teachers. Many good people have been lead a stray. I pray that the scales be removed from their eyes and the Holy Spirit can reveal the truth to them. The reason churches are tax exempt is because most, not all for sure, but most of them do tons of charity work that actually takes the burden off of the government and tax payers. Most of the charity hospitals are owned and ran by churches, most food banks, shelters, drug rehabs, and on and on. My church has responded and will respond to all natural disasters in our surrounding area. When tornadoes hit Mississippi earlier this year we were there in a couple of days helping cut trees. When a hurricane hit Alabama a few months ago we had boots on the ground helping tarp roofs just hours after the storm hit. We responded to the hurricane in Lake Charles too. And we continue to provide support afterwards. We’re in the process of trying to get a home built for foster kids. All these things come out of the pockets of the congregation. The church is typically on scene to a natural disaster days or even weeks before FEMA can even mobilize. Things like this is why the church is tax exempt. Do people and organizations take advantage of this? Yes. A small fraction of the whole. Don’t blame the ones that are actually doing something.

Still I don't get why a church would need a blanket tax exemption.
