In Japan, the Evangelion series became so famous and commercialized that there was no longer a need to discuss the appeal of its characters in movies, as it had expanded into games, doujinshi, comics, and gag manga. Director Anno aimed to symbolize everything from the visuals to the story, and from the dialogue to the characters, intending to bring about the end of the story through thorough logical armament. It is a fact that this is not a movie to enjoy the story, but rather a film to interpret lol

Nice to see you're still having fun with it despite the issues. I still love the whole falling angel sequence, especially the creepiness of it coming out and interlocking hands, they did such a great job making the angel fights more impactful. I've never known quite what to think of these movies, but I think you articulated it really well - very fun and cool visuals, some awesome action scenes, and characters that are kinda just there to be dropped into situations. I can also kinda believe they were pushed to add Mari for the sake of sticking a new female character on the marketing, much as I still enjoy her chaos.

Yeah I figured after the first one I would try and take an approach where I had some fun while reacting but then was pretty honest in what I do and don’t like in the discussions. Especially since I was expecting all 4 to be similar ot the first where not much was altered but that was quickly shattered at the start of the third one lol

The reality is that this is not the same Asuka. It will not have the same past, nor the same development nor the same future. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just different.

I'd say it's bad because it's not well-developed... we only care about her because of NGE, her character only gets better in the last movie... otherwise she's just a flat character like Mary.

Not even the editor knows how to properly cut this reaction, and the KZbinr does nothing but laugh. It will be a funny movie and I haven't realized it? As an Eva fan, I didn't like this reaction at all.
