This hits me right in the feels, man. It's absolutely uncanny-like stepping into a time machine. Learning to fix cars out of necessity, but finding joy in it. Making creative/questionable modifications. Wrecking them doing silly stuff. Painting a car at my parent's house over a weekend, knowing full well that the same vehicle needs to make it three hours back home-MULTIPLE TIMES. I've very nearly lived this video shot for shot. I even started building models of the cars I've owned, wrecked, or sold-complete with flaws. Not to mention that all of the above took place in Ohio as well. I digress. You stated that "things don't last forever" and that's true for a good many items. But with vehicles, you've clearly shown that it doesn't have to be. Your resolve is inspirational and I look forward to the impending entruckification of the Santa Fe. (Pro Tip: don't cheap out on sawzall blades.)

I’ve got this vid sent by a friend of mine and i can’t really express how much i feel with you I’ve owned my Opel Astra for 6 years now and i bought it after my grandpa died, since it was his car Car has been in familly since 2004, learned my older sister how to drive and myself, he sadly passed away in 2013, and car has been left behind since there was no use for it. Later in 2016, grandma decided that it was time to sell it and nearly did, until i stepped in, i refused it to let go, so i picked up nearly everything i had saved that time for new gaming PC (wasn’t much, about 1k€) and offered it to buy it off her, even when i didn’t have my driver license at the time and wouldn’t have one for next 2 years at least. She agreed and car stayed. At first, when i got my license, i hated the car, i hated that it was slow, was planing just to learn to drive with it and selling it off since i got some nice offers off the local dealership, where the car was bought back in 2004, as the car was in +- nice shape and well kept for it’s time, really interesting specification and low millage at the time (about 86k kms). But later on, in 2020 something changed, i started liking how the car was, wasn’t powerfull in any means (1.4 with 90hp and 5 speed manual), i could actually get something better (i later added a daily Subaru Forester), but i refused to let that car go, gave it proper maintanance and enjoyed it (later learned my then girlfriend to drive and showed her that it’s not just “a car”) I switched jobs in 2022, and on one night from work, i ran into a deer, similiar damage as you had, while i was joining onto highway in about 70-80km/h… I was absolutly devastated that someting like that occured, as i knew that parts are harder now to come by, and slim chances that the parts will be in came color as my car (since painting the car would be expensive and really hard to match with the color i have) Everyone’s been telling me to get rid of it, it’s not worth it, etc… I never did. I still own it, repaired the fender, hood and ziptied the bumper back into form. I’ve been searching for parts since then, but i just refuse to let it go. That car has a special place in my heart, and i trully believe that it has soul. I am so happy to see someone feeling the same about “a tool”, and that i am not alone. Thank you for the video ❤

FIRST CAR GANG! I'm still driving my first car, and i REFUSE to get rid of it for no good reason. i've had people literally beg me to get rid of it, but then fail to come up with even a single reason other than "its old". My car is old enough to drink now and i'm the 3rd owner it ever had (the second owner being a family member). I've had it for just about 20 years now, and its 20 years of memories. My car will always represent freedom to me, and i'll die before i give it up. even if i gets totaled in a collision, i'll think of something to do with the crumpled remains. When i die, i want my body stuffed in the trunk, the car set on fire, and then pushed into the grand canyon
@EvanMonsma11 ай бұрын
Hell yes. I totally agree. Even if my car gets entirely wrecked I'll put what remains of the body on a new truck frame and keep it rolling haha. First car gang.

There’s something about a car guys’ first car that someone who doesn’t know about cars won’t understand. I bought my first car a few years ago when I was 16 and I never plan to get rid of it. It’s a Mercedes s-class and it’s such a finicky vehicle that no one except me knows how to drive it. It’s left me stranded, it’s cost me an arm and a leg repairs, it has over 279k miles on it, the interior is shot, and I love it.

Hey man, love the production on ur videos, I think it´s amazing. Got recommended thru William´s excavator knobs, and I'm really happy with the discovery. Anyhow, if you´re thinking of transforming it into a pickup truck, you should take into account that, by removing parts of the chassey (or however it´s spelled), you are taking out structural integrity. Maybe a welded in rollcage might help. Keep it up please! love your videos so much!
@EvanMonsma11 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yup- not gonna rush the pickup conversion, gonna reinforce the bed all the way around and do a cab rollcage that goes diagonal down to the rear shock mounts. Eventually might put the whole thing on a C10 frame as well if I get the space and time one day

This is so cool, bro. Not because the car is cool. Its not. Its an effing Tucson. But like you said, its a tool. It doesn't have to be cool, it just has to work. This is cool because you had the drive and motivation to do it all yourself. Its cool because you didn't give up. Your work is the cool part, regardless of what you put that work into. I hope this video inspires more people to be like you. The section where you're beating the hood and fender back into shape reminded me of when I did basically the same with my car. It was a learning experience and a sort of bonding moment between man and machine. Oh, also... I love the new paint job.
