Although I was convinced that I has set myself up correctly, I rechecked and I was wrong. My saddle was back too far by around 4 cm. I had thought that the knee pain I had was due to old age and arthritis, but - it's gone... Thanks for a really informative and clear video. My knees send their regards.

By far the best video I've seen relating to fitting a bike. Other videos from other bike shops, they simply talk and not actually show how it's measured (probably because they're afraid of losing business in the bike-fitting area). My local bike shop charges $60 to do these measurements & bike-fittings.

Wow what a kind and helpful man with a great respectful manner. You'd think the comments would reciprocate this to at least some extent.... He sized her based on what SHE wears when SHE rides the bike. So he did the job properly for the customer. IMO, great video, with some really useful information that can be applied in anyone's use case no matter what does they choose to wear.

I am 6 foot with a long torso & shorter legs. I had a 56cm road bike that was fitted for me at one bike shop but sold after a couple of months. Not comfortable after 10 miles of riding. I was told at another shop to get a 58cm but i had seat at lowest setting. My last bike was a woman's large that worked well but did not like colors. I now have a M-L Giant road bike that fits me perfectly!

2:52 to measure the reach like this, i would say it's wrong. because in this hand position nobody rides most of the time. to measure the reach it would be better to grab the hoods and start the adjustment from there.

Sloping top tube Who was the first franebuider to make Sloping top tube frames? I know it had to do with either Mt. Bikes or small women’s frames. I know when I started cycling long distance In 1973 there were no such frames. Thx for any and all answers.
@williama.roesler10195 жыл бұрын
I think it was in the mid 90's-------I hate sloping top tubes. They are not doing as well as expected thank God..........I think they just wanted to show off Carbon Fiber, so they sloped them. Meanwhile, while you are screaming down a decent, sloped top tubes start to vibrate. It happened to me in Lake Placid during an Ironman. I locked my knees so hard, that I had trouble getting loose during the run.......scared to death @ 42 MPH!!!
@aldrinclementina42975 жыл бұрын
@@williama.roesler1019 My friend. Sloping helps you sit more relaxed and it gives you the possibility to change from relax to aggressive. It helps you also with the climbing. I've had both frames. And i can tell you. It's a huge difference and it helps. Now If you are a Tri- athlete I can relate to that. Cause you use the bike only for a short period of time Time Trial. But if you are a road racer you will understand. Because you will have to change and deal with different positions and situations in one race.. And Yeah Giant Made the first sloping frames. Him Bike. They made it sloping for a few reasons and innovations like. Ride comfort, Stiffness, lighter and compact. for example a '56 frame can be made lighter and stiffer but with less material.

I’m looking for a bike for my 18 year old daughter to basically use on her college campus, as she has some classes on the other side of campus but 10mins to get there. This bike won’t likely be used for any riding on trails or the road (more serious riding), & not looking for an expensive bike since funds are tight being her Freshman year & getting dorm stuff in addition. Can you help me on knowing what size bike I should get for her with the below information? She is 4’11”- 5’ (59-60inches) tall (pretty petite). She will be carrying her backpack/ books/ laptop. I noticed when fitting this woman that she would not easily be able to reach the ground while on the seat (I do understand why), but was thinking for my daughters use, it might be best for her to be able to easily touch the ground w/o having to pop off of the seat or lean the bike over slightly so her foot can balance her when stopped. We will place a waterproof carrier attached to the handlebars above the front wheel (or, perhaps, attach to the rim over the back wheel). I’m only casually aware of bikes- enough to fix a popped chain, change an inner tube; and have not ever been formally instructed. Riding for fun around the neighborhood as a kid/ teen type deal, so my above idea might be completely faulty. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ive never had a road bike before. i had a 54 frame boardman hybrid. im 5 feet 11 in height with a 32 inside leg. i went for a planet x carbon pro and they said a medium frame, which they said is the equivalent of a 54 cm frame. the seat sits at the same height as my boardman but the frame seems so much smaller. is this normal because its a roadbike? would really love some feed back, thanks. oh and my bike also has a sloping head tube.

I'm just under 5'10 in height. I want to buy a new bike but the bike size web pages place me in the M size (49/50cm) range but M looks small to me and I have been even advised by shop keepers to ignore bike size pages and get am L (54/56cm). And yes L visually looks more like my size. My old bike was L but I wonder if it was always the wrong size. Which size should I really be getting!??

That is up there with "Does your dog bite?" Then you go to pet the dog and get savaged. Then you say "You said that your dog does not bite." The response you get is "That is not my dog." Peter Sellers did this brilliantly in The Pink Panther movies.

I marvel at how many people watch these videos. Why are so many people unhappy with their fit? Here is why: You are riding a seat that is inherently dangerous and will cause extensive urological and urological damage. After you watch this one and the next and the next and then go through 12 seats perhaps you might then let us relieve you of all these problems: spongywonder.com Thanks, Jeff
