Well my question was more about whoever that guy is tuning it... If you have a 7psi spring in your waste-gate, and you're not opening at all to bleed off some of that 30psi, you have a mechanical issue that should be solved immediately before making anymore pulls ( IMO ). Are the waste-gate line plumbed correctly? Is your Boost controller (if present) connected and plumbed properly? IF both answers are Yes, Then its clearly a Tune or ECU issue to do with settings.

I'm not saying he's not Knowledgeable, but having worked at a dyne for about a year and a half if I'm able to understand the symptoms which were presenting themselves then he should have too.. If he has been tuning for YEARS he should have easily been able to solve the issue they were having unless Evan ONLY had a 30 psi Spring. Boost control ECU settings, The actual WasteGate itself, Vacuum and boost lines connected properly, An over boost protection setting in the ECU, etc.

Evan, as much as I was excited to watch this video. I'm also kinda upset... I'm happy with the progress that has been made and the passion you have for this car and all the things you've done to it. As an Evo x owner myself I'm upset with the fact that there is way to much miss information your not catching or seeing. 4b11s can handle 550hp/400tq all day everyday. It's been done time and time again. Your setup is great but there are a few things that I'm scratching my head at. Like are u running a 3 port EBC? Was the tune you were getting only on 93? Did you change your spark plugs before the tune? Did they boost leak test the car? Did they compression test the motor before dynoing? Was Kevin the one even tuning the car at that second shop???? That last pull was spark blow out 100% there's just too many things that haven't really been addressed in your build and people try to weigh in on. Lots of people talking shit saying 30psi on stock block is too much. All these people who've never even owned Evos spreading all kinds of BS. Don't listen to the haters. Keep doing your thing but damnit man get on the evolution x FB pages and get some sound solid advice on things. KZbin is not the place for this boss.

Lol that def wasn’t Kevin tuning that car. He should def do more research instead of slapping parts and chasing a number. Springs + retainers and decent cams would help that turbo breathe and it makes absolutely no sense chasing that number on pump gas when e85 is available. But then again if he’s not even familiar with the sound of spark plug blow out and the way he was driving towards the end I wouldn’t be surprised if a full bolt on stock turbo Evo walks this car on the straight line or turns.

On a 7 psi spring the wastegate should open up at 7 psi. Getting 30 psi And not being to get it to back down sounds like the wastegate is messed up.

I remember watching one of your previous videos when you were going to install that you had made the comment that it did not fit in it was because the firing ring That goes between the wastegate and the mating surface actually has to be pre loaded( try your best to squish it down closed and get the clamp around) That will fix your unlimited boost issue of course if you did not put that ring in that is

I wouldn't think 30psi on the stock block is too much. I am running 27 peak psi on the stock turbo. What size turbo did you go with again? I would expect around 500whp with this set up. Just keep pushing it, and if she blows, it's time to build from the ground up. Believe me, if I had the cash, I would be doing the same!

I love that steering wheel, Once you have the wastegate opening at the right pressure and it on the dyno again it should be fine while you are having the next engine put together and all the parts come. then if the engine detonates you will be able to swap the new more powerful engine in.

Sounds like that tuner isn’t used to huge boost numbers. We’re the plugs gapped closer so the spark doesn’t blow out? Why didn’t the tuner change to the lower wastegate spring? I’d be wary of that tuner, his confidence level just doesn’t seem to be where it should be. I appreciate his concerns for safety but......
