Did you need to disconnect the airbag control module or did you manage to change the pipe without touching the module? Thanks
@djorkode111 ай бұрын
I didn't have to disconnect anything. The other end of the drain hose was directly behind the control module.

Hey. Thanks for the video. How did you manage to put your hand all the way inside to plug it into the a/c unit? It just seems impossible without removing the airbag (the yellow thing) and it wire... I am not sure how to unplug this airbag to make my life easier.
@djorkode13 жыл бұрын
Hey! It was a tight spot. I remember using a little bit of silicone spray to help me insert the upper hose. You can try to use long needle nose pliers to help you place it and use your fingers to push it all the way in. Make sure the hose sits properly. I wouldn't recommend unplugging the airbag but if you do, make sure the battery has been unplugged for at least 20 minutes. Hope this helps

@@djorkode1 thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, unplugging the airbag is the last resort. In fact, it is even advised in their (VW) instruction to do that. Funny part is that their instruction doesn't even state to unplug the battery. Anyway, I will try it once I receive a new hose. Not sure why, but my hose is leaking. Perhaps it has something to do with the recent evaporator replacement I did. Unfortunately, all of my carpets are soked in water so I had do disassemble everything today to remove the carpets in the car to dry them out. VW likes to make things overcomplicated.

How did you remove the bottom end of the drain tube from the chassis? Is it clipped in somehow?
@djorkode17 жыл бұрын
danny chu Yes it's snapped in place. You just need to pull it straight up away from the the chassis.

Thanks! I’m going to pump cleaning foam into the evaporator core from there. Crossing my fingers that I don’t tear anything!
@djorkode17 жыл бұрын
danny chu Yeah be very careful pulling that tube out, I thought I was being careful as well :). If you can find the drain from underneath the car it's even better... Any how good luck and let me know how it went .

danny chu how did this go for you? Looking to do this this week as my ac smells crappy

Did you ever find where it comes out under the car??? I can't find this and apparently nobody on the internet has either.. driving me crazy how everyone is just showing the interior location ONLY..

the service tech told me that rubber hose is not the evap drain; it is an airline that pushes air to the back seat floor vents. If you turn the ac on and unplug that, you'll feel air blowing through it. The evap drain is supposed to be metal, but I cannot find it... anywhere Grrr!
@djorkode16 жыл бұрын
The service tech is wrong! I had to replace the robber hose shown in this video and the part number is to a evap drain hoses. The air ducts for the rear seat is not shown in this video.
@tobloyd6 жыл бұрын
I hope you're right. Do you have any idea then why a strong current of air blows through that tube?
@djorkode16 жыл бұрын
Tobias Bloyd my best guess would be blow by air from the evaporator since the drain hose is connected to it... But I am 100% the how shown in the video is the evap drian tube
