I learned PvP by thinking of it as order of operations. If a step fails or is missed, trying to pre-emptively run the steps beyond it is just confusing. Too many times I thought "haha, got you now!" with my guns on and my drones firing only to realize I never turned on my warp scrambler or that they'd managed to burn out of my range. Focus on one at a time, even if it means you're missing a few seconds of damage. 1. Lock - mashing the button isn't useful (and stresses me the hell out, personally), the best cadence is you click, hear the "bwoop" of the lock attempt, then click again as the sound finishes. 2. Hold - as soon as you hear the lock attempt noise progress beyond the first "bwoop", assuming nothing else happens the lock will complete. Now you want to press your scram / point once so it's flashing, when the lock completes it'll immediately apply. If you have a web, you should also include it here. 3. Move - Check your approach / set orbit, turn on prop mod if needed. Remember that even in similar hulls, they can gradually pull range on you by overheating! 4. Shoot - Start shooting and / or doing whatever EWAR you plan on doing 5. Drone - I like to keep a separate step to deploy and engage with drones If you find that you're consistently failing to establish a lock before they warp off (using a cruiser to hunt a frigate means long lock times) you'll want to try and bump them by approaching in cloak then running your prop mod while continuing to approach as soon as you decloak. You can also use a sensor booster with a signature script, which you'll want to turn on as soon as you decloak. Cloak delay only applies to locking- you can turn on your prop mod / sensor booster / any other module that doesn't require a lock a split second after hitting decloak.

Yea the whole step by step process of decloaking, locking, scramming, orbitting and shooting is something that I'm still working on, to be honest tho, it's one of those things that they only way to get better is to put myself in those situations

@@Expedishun Absolutely- best way to learn is to do it! You can practice with NPC rats to get a feel for the cloak delay / lock attempt cadence / muscle memory if that's helpful. Knowing what to expect and what to do in what order makes it a lot less stressful in the moment when it's actual PvP. Personally I use keyboard shortcuts rather than clicking, everything is on the F key row so I hit F8 to decloak, F7 to start my sensor booster, F1 to start my propmod, then ctrl + click to lock, then F2 to scram, F3 to web, and whatever other F keys for offensive stuff then shift F and F to launch / set drones to attack. I set up all my ships the same way, so I know immediately what I need to do regardless of what I'm flying.

Very jelous of your pvp shakes lad! I wish i could still feel that. Good to see you learning the ways of pvp to, and there is ALOT to learn. Good content to watch to, I am sure there will be alot of input from the community you have built up so far. Totally need to take you out on a null sec roam soon™.

I can give some tips on cloaky hunting. If i am hunting a covert ops frigate i try to get decloake on the ship itself. Doing that will make is so it can not cloak while i am locking it. This also gives me the opportunity to bump it. If you are not familiar with bumping, it is pushing a ship in another direction than it is align to, so it has to start the proces of aligning over and that gives you more time to lock. Bumping is also usefull if someone is rolling a wormhole. I let the roller get a pass or two and than wait uncloaked at the wormhole at 0. Then when he splashes i burn right towards the roller to bump him away from the wormhole and if im lucky the roller is far enough from the wormhole to that he can not splash right away. Than burn to the wormhole and repeat the proces untill he is a ball of fire. I hope you find this usefull. o7

Bumping scares the shit outta me tbh. Getting that close to another ship that will actively try to kill me is scary hahah

When you get the dotted line in scan results like you do in the first part of this video, its generally better practice to expand your probe scan rather than shrink it like you were doing. You want a red dot then narrow in on it. Thx for the content :)

Love to listen to your stories and seeing you play. This might be just me and my null-sec brain - Don't call it PVP when you kill someone that can't fight back, rename those to GANK. Would be nice to watch actually :) "My Tengu Ganking Adventures" - That Heron deserved to be killed, didn't even keep an eye out. Smart move waiting for him to be occupied xD

Yea, to be honest, I'm completely new to the world of PvP and ganking an all that haha. Yea, he had the nerve to message me after for his stuff, to see if it was still there haha

Ships are ammunition... If you find yourself worried about loosing a ship then that ship has to much value imo.
