EvE was the strangest gaming experience I ever had. I started mining in hi-sec, then lo-sec, and I was approached by a friendly mining corp to help with their operation since I specced to drive freighters thanks to randomly finding one that was unmanned (weirdest thing). I had to move to their home base, and THAT journey was the oddest thing. It felt like packing and moving across the city. Had to skim through one nullsec gate, and that was scary since I was in my nice juicy freighter, but I made it through fine. When I arrived, I helped with several mining runs... until I got bored and left. It was... somehow fun and boring at the same time.

Good tutorial. I've just gotten back in the game after a 7-year hiatus. Some things to note: You can also lock a selected target by just hitting Ctrl. Mission flavor text sometimes appears in local chat too. There's a starter mission where you are supposed to scout and leave, and the instructions to get away from the very powerful enemies come up in the chat. I almost started warping in and out to take on the bad guys with a thousand cuts when I noticed it. Mission locations also appear in the mission details of your Journal. Be careful about afterburning. Some ships are able to orbit faster than their turrets can turn to aim and you'll start missing.

@@wattwaster5936 interesting theory. Have you checked on WoW subscription trends since covid hit? And if they deviated from the trends prior to covid hitting? pay2play, while not so common anymore these days, is what has allowed games such as WoW and EVE to remain alive for as long as they have. Honestly, I'd rather pay 10 or 15 bucks a month for a good game like EVE than be confronted with yet another 'free to play, oh btw we have L00TBOXES! AND SKINS! AND WEAPONS! AND ALL THE THINGS!' game.
@LiveTwinReaction4 жыл бұрын
Meh, for 13 years it was completely subscription-only with no way to play for free past the initial 2-week trial. I think what alphas can do is pretty substantial considering that, the biggest restrictions is with mining and the dumb 24-hour skill queue thing. Having to make sure every skill starts within 24 hours is annoying, if there's no huge skill you wanna train then you gotta log on every day to put in more, compared to a subscribed character that can go months of training without touching the game.

My experience in EVE is that it's actually a pretty simple game, there is just a lot to do and you get to choose yourself what to do ... people are generally 'told' what to do (in life, in games), and thus, once they are in EVE and do not get told what to do, they feel helpless ... how do i make up my mind of what to do ... this is probably the biggest hurdle to take in EVE ! but once you figured out what you like to do (HENCE DO THE CARREER MISSIONS) you will be fine! ... Also, do not worry to much about ISK/h (income per hour), because if you do worry about that i can tell you now that flipping burgers anywhere will get you more ISK/h than doing anything in EVE, so if you worry about ISK/h, go flip burgers IRL !! ... and Use Rookie-chat and be friendly, 99% of people is there to help you ^^

Wow that section screen at 0:00 really brings me back to playing EVE Dust 514. Really nostalgic.

Once you start, you never quit EVE. You only take a break.

Starting empire will have an effect on what equipment and ships, and I think skill books, you are gifted during your career agent missions. I’d recommend to go ahead and pick the empire whose ships, weapons, and defense systems appeal to you. Although you can skill into anything from any empire (especially as an omega clone) it is easier to fly and acquire stuff from your own empire. Not a huge setback, but it does make some difference.

I used to play this right before all the new updates came out. Need to get back in now that I have a computer that can handle it again, and that I have a trustworthy guide with Quill!

The cold that you feel in your neck when you realize your PC does not have the recommended stats for a 2003 game.... (Im not sure if its 2003 or even earlier than that)

Yep. It is 2003 but with really better engine.

thanks for the video,.. i was a hardcore player years ago , but stopped playing. Because of a stroke and the loss of use of my right arm, I remembered this game could be played with only the mouse so i returned to play only to find i had forgotten everything about how to actually play it. was amazed my huge account full of stuff exactly as I left it years ago and am eagerly trying to figure it all out again, thank so much ,..subbed

Yeah cloak opens up a whole new dynamic. 2x skill training helps too. Once you can get cloak I would definitely recommend going omega. Then get cloak 4 for covert ops cloak for an astero. Run around as an invisible money making machine doing relics and profit.

Think this video series has made me decide to give eve a shot for once. A friend gave me a ton of money when I started my account years ago but I barely played it at all. I’m not sure I even made it out of the tutorial.

This is exactly what the doctor ordered. Thank you so much for this. It fills in the gaps that the game omitted.
