Dear Joseph. Evelyn has such a powerhouse beautiful voice. Very underated. Up there with the best! True entertainer. I have this on 12" vinyl, and it sounds surreal through decent speakers. What a voice! I'm still jamming to it. Great baseline. Stay safe Joseph. America looks like it has its problems at the moment, like UK.

I was born in 1973. White father/ Black mother. My father introduced me to his style of music and my mother introduced me to hers. This was 1982 and Thriller blew this out of the water. I was too young to appreciate it. My mother used to play this alllllll the time on our "hi-fi stereo" with Patrice Rushen, Earth Wind & Fire, Cameo etc. This brings back so many memories of my mother asking me to dance with her. I now keep EVERY SINGLE SONG I come across now. Even if I hate them. I have been collecting since the 80's and digitizing all the music. I have over 150,000 MP3s now.

It goes without saying. I had a conversation about how a middle aged white man wouldn't know the same songs that a middle Aged black man would. They could be the same age. But just because of the musical racial barrier and how music is promoted white people don't know Evelyn but this song is a staple of black playlists hahahaha
@eraliaa32193 жыл бұрын
@@dariusjackson142 What are you talking about? Michael Jackson is huge for many people even internationally O_o Sometimes certain people have just their own preferences. I'm not American but I wouldn't ask you what you know about music played in our radio either.

@@eraliaa3219 what about what i said do you not get? in the united states there is a huge cultural barrier that exists when it comes to music. my black uncle wouldn’t know “photograph” by def leppard if he heard it and my white friends dad never heard this song and i had to tell him who it was and he was 54 years old. it’s not bad. it just is what it is. we created that barrier because “ black people music and white people music” WHITE PEOPLE AND BLACK PEOPLE OLD AND YOUNG MAKE VIDEOS OF THEM REACTING TO SONGS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD AND PROBABLY NEVER WOULD HAVE JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE....does that answer your fucking dumb question? and btw you just compared the most famous artist in the world to evelyn champagne king smh kill yourself

Obviously, you don’t know any people who are really into music. I am 50 years old and white, and I work in a plant that is predominantly black. And I know more about soul music than most of them put together. As well as having a deep knowledge of rock, disco, and big band with some country also. And the reason why is because I love music, period.

She could have been bigger but it was very hard for R & B Singers like her, Stephanie Mills and God knows how many others to cross over. None of My White Friends knew who she was. She was discovered as a Cleaning Lady at RCA where she and her mother were working. She was singing along to the Radio and an executive heard her and the rest is history.

At the time pop music was rock based with SOME R&B thrown in for good measure. 35 years later pop music is largely hip hop\R&B based with SOME rock thrown in for good measure.
