The sticky disintegrating rubber is sadly not a cost cutting measure, it's just how rubber in 2000s products worked. I've bought high-end devices from the era (Canon 5D Classic, Wacom Intuos4 pens) and the rubber on those is the same, very sticky and frail.

Hilarious that actual features (two headphone jacks, speaker) were never mentioned on the box.

Listen guys, i got a theory: Y'all have heard of the everything-turns-crab theory. Get ready for everything-turns-mp3 (And yes, the crab theory is only meant for crustaceans I think, so we won't develop a sturdy shell and scissors, sadly)

Damn its been ages since I've seen clip on headphones! I can't use in ears without pain so a video on clip ons would be very nice, if those still exist of course :'c

Koss still makes a ton of them.

I used to like clip on for the very same reason, until I found out it slides off easily when I move or sweat (was using it in a airconditioned desk job) Nowadays, over-ear and bone conduction are the hip thing from whippersnappers who also don't want ear-in. Even the soft ear-in hurts, but imagine the old ones which are large as a thumb.
