My 12 year-old son gets picked on for being different. His eyes well up sometimes when he talks about not having friends. But he loves Elvis. He wears his hair like him and has always loved pink even before he discovered Elvis. Whenever he gets down, I tell him not to worry about it because even Elvis got picked on. He always feels better after that.

Danny, you & I are close in age. I just turned 61, I've always been short my whole life! I learned at a very early age that if you take crap from some bully, they're gonna keep on you? My father taught me how to defend myself when I was a little boy. I believe that I was picked on for being little, but that turned into physical intimidation afterwards! That only happened once. Because I fought back in the school yard in front of my peers. I stood my ground, and never looked back after that. I guess that I was lucky? What I'm trying to say here is your message is spot-on! Wow, Danny this shit home for me believe it or not. I am a 56 year-old man with 30 years in the union and the younger kids come in and they are so disrespectful and they’ll even make fun of my weight and it’s embarrassing and I get angry sometimes and I, let them have it but I don’t because I know they’re young and don’t know anything about the world so this video really hit home for me just when I needed it. I agree with you danny and Teresa, I was bullied when i was kid because I have scoliosis and I had a hunchback because of it and kids would make fun of me all the time and they just don't know what that does to a person it gave me a complex about myself my whole life .so I'm glad you are speaking out on this and I feel people do need see this video... I dealt with bullying from family members (and some classmates) as a child. They found things to tease me for, such as my hair, my speech impediment, the way I ate and the way I looked and acted overall. In their perspective, I was just different from them. This had a huge effect on my self-esteem because I had to work extra hard to please them, but it was never enough. And I allowed others to bully or walk all over me, because I had no clue what proper boundaries looked like. I’m still in the recovery process, but I’m learning to love and accept myself with every day. Thanks for sharing this! :) It’s reassuring to learn about Elvis’ experiences with bullying and how he never let it get to him.

That’s why it’s advisable to get your kids into self defense training early on … to stand up to … and handle bullies face to face , and if it does become physical … they can handle business . Elvis became the greatest and got the sweetest revenge by just being who he really was. It kind of worked out the same way for me, although I never became a superstar of that dimension.

Yes, Red did protect Elvis in high school, but find it to be so sad what happened when the 3 guys wrote the book about Elvis. That book hurt Elvis and later on I think Red and Sonny were sorry they wrote it. If Vernon would have done what he was told to do, I don't think this book would have been written. Just sad cause Elvis wasn't feeling the best with health problems and then worrying what was going to be in that book.
