Thanks for not being one of the fear mongering channels. It's a breath of fresh air. I had to unsub from so many homesteading channels over the last 3 years because they would post a few videos daily saying that SHTF just happened. They claim to have an "inside source" for info and we're all about to starve, etc, etc.

I agree. I found this channel last year when I came home from work & my son had bought me 4 baby chicks, which I had always wanted. I like the calm, well thought out explanations. I might be a senior citizen, but I have increased my garden space, bought 3 meat rabbits to breed (oh, yes, I will still rescue bunnies like I always have!), bought a bigger dehydrator & bought a Nesco canner which I am learning to use. I have always gardened, but without really understanding the "whys" & "why nots", & I truly love all the advice. God Bless!

@@giancolabird Preparedness is of the utmost importance, especially in the times we're in. The channels I was referring to were cashing in on people's fear and anxiety by creating click bait videos where they claim to have insider information on some soon to come doom and gloom. None of the claims ever came to fruition and we're years down the road now. Other homesteading and preparedness channels have called out the type of content creators I'm referencing.

Thanks for what should be rational common sense. I used my first bag of Dumor in December and my flocks production stopped. Switched back to my normal organic food and in January and February my 12 girls produced over 200 eggs per month here in Ohio with Zero artificial light. Dumor is a problem….don’t know why. Can you possible consider that any kind of change especially their food , but really type of change can stress them. They have neophobia, it keeps them from eating something unhealthful it is an evolutionary perspective that birds and mammals have, whether we see it or not they are stressed, when you change their feed. They will eat it because they are hungry but that does not mean they were stressed and that reduces production of eggs. People usually think of their chickens like a dog or cat type of way, chickens are still very much like the ones that lived in the wild rainforests and they are prey they believe everyone wants to eat them, usually they are correct, they don’t start trusting in the same way a dog will. Just something to consider . Have a good day ☀️

Well said. I had a crazy wind come thru here yesterday & blew the roof off my chicken coop & turned my small greenhouse upside down. My sister (72) & I (65) have already fixed the coop roof. today we tackle the greenhouse. We both will be talking to Jesus & God the whole time. Good talk, thanks! It saddens me how often I hear people tell me how afraid they are of X situation/rumor/news. Being aware of events and being cautious to prepare for may come is a healthy reaction to events. Cowering in fear and inaction is unhealthy. Here in Michigan we have been without electrical power for going on five nights (since Feb 22, 2023) due to an ice storm. Thankfully, we are prepared for such things because we have experienced living without electricity (e.g., grid down in 2003) and learned from those events. Anticipating potential hardships and acting to reduce them is the opposite of complaining about supposed conspiracies and doing nothing. As a Marine I appreciate your addition to our mantra: Observe - Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome. Go Blue! God bless!!!

Wisdom right there. Advice to those living in fear, applicable to both secular and religious world views, make your local community resilient. Elect local officials who understand the role of The Lesser Magistrate AND also know what interposition means within that doctrine AND are willing to be an agent of interposition. Let the fools in state capitals and Washington do what fools do. If we insulate ourselves with honorable Lesser Magistrates, to a large degree what the fools do will no longer matter.

I have witnessed how someone closes their mind after they misconstrue a statement. At a woodworking show, a knowledgable instructor was giving the basics of routers. He said something about the big ones and the small ones all working the same, which they do. One man took that to mean the instructor was dumb and believed a ½ hp router could do the same work as a 2hp router. The instructor was saying the concept of a spinning bit and the way they are adjusted is all similar. The man blocked out everything else the teacher had to say, which was sad, because he had some good things to teach.

Brother so beautifully said! I want to say I listen to your whole video when you talked about the feed. I was using tractor supply feed and was getting hardly no eggs. My chickens were only 10 months old and yes one thing is first winter. We changed feed and also added things in extra to build protein. And put chickens on new ground with green grass. We have 16 belifelder hens and one rooster. And we are up to 11 eggs a day. We’ll we tried different things with the feed and it made a difference. So was it totally the feed? Who knows!, the thing is as you said adapt and over come. We even had cooked and fed them baby beans like the homestead heat home stead had done. So the main thing is we didn’t complain we prayed and adjusted and tried to change the out come and we feel we had over come. Thanks for your time The Davis’s family

I did use Dumor (It smelled a bit old and I thought it might have been in transit for a long time like our food) and switched before people started talking. My chickens look so healthy and began laying nearly daily. I think its cuz the light is coming back but the better feed is making a difference in their health. Your video was reassuring because you were inviting people to think and question for themselves. I could do without the interpretation of God, (I am a minister), and . . . we all have different understandings of it, and it just causes separation.

Right. It does cause misunderstandings and people will walk away with whatever they want to hear even if he never says anything about the Bible. He is inviting people to expand their thinking and that challenge themselves and their fears and that is always a positive. Yes, there are things that don't seem quite right and they are usually having to do with our government. I think the fact that so many people jumped on TSC as the cause did really make me wonder about where that information started from. I am proud to be a citizen of the USA and I'm also very sad about the state of our union. I don't raise chickens, but my grandmother raised them by the hundreds so I do know something about chickens. I know they molt, lay less in the winter and they don't do well with lack of daylight. I have a sister who shuts out everyone who doesn't do everything the way she thinks they should live, even her one and only son. I try very hard now to shut people out just because they don't agree with me 100%, but I will shut out people who are always negative. So some battles are worth fighting and some are not. God gave us the ability to pick and choose, just do so wisely!

👍 You can not please all of the people all of the time! My hens stopped laying…it’s winter, it’s cold, hens slow laying normally, God created hens that way…daylight hours are shorter, even hens deserve a vacation! I fed crumbles from Tractor supply, Organic crumbles from my feed store, and crumbles from Walmart…my hens egg production was the same-decreased! And then one day it jumped to “WOW I guess their body’s are doing their thing again” that’s cool.” Feed the birds and ride out the storms of life…If God is still in control then God will provide! 🙏🏼 I’m praying God returns people to “gracious hospitality and good manners”. 🙏🏼

I am not a homesteader, and just bought my first chicks yesterday and a means of feeling good about my eggs and giving me something to do in my retirement. I just subscribed. When you observe that changing feed for your chickens instantly starts them laying again, you can use common sense to draw conclusions without someone "proving" something to the public, or placing blame. 😅 Sadly, the larger problem with society is not fear, but the lack of logical thinking. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. One of the reasons I stay subscribed is that you keep your calm and don't use sarcasm or criticizing to get your viewers to do things or believe what you say. We definitely have different theology, but that doesn't mean you can't share helpful information.

I've been watching this whole non-laying chickens/Tractor Supply story as it plays out over several "homesteader" channels. I've become slightly bemused. So much vitriol and fear panic; so many unsubstantiated claims and theories. Across YT channels, day by day, this whole twisted, often dark, episode reminds me of the title of Faulkner's "Sound and the Fury" which is a takeoff of Hamlet's line, "It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing". I chalk up the whole non laying hen imbroglio to probably some bad ingredient that was inadvertently added because the regular ingredient supply chain has been disrupted. I'm old enough to remember when a load of toxic PCB was accidentally loaded into some dairy cattle feed in Ohio(?) way back in the late 1970s and how that single point error was spread across a couple of states and thousands of cattle consumed the feed. Oh, the absolute panic that EVERYONE who so much as touched a carton of milk would develop pus oozing sores and die. Yes, it was a terrible accident but cooler heads prevailed; assessed the situation and developed an action plan. I think when the final chapter of 2023 non-laying hens is written we'll find out it was a bad ingredient or improper amount of an ingredient that triggered this. Of course, the die hard haters out here will scoff and continue to claim a conspiracy to starve out the chicken raising God fearing 'Chosen people' of flyover country. I'm thankful I'm old enough to have seen prior editions of this type of tale play out. I don't get riled and fly off into a tizzying panic when things like this happen. It's usually just a load of "lather, wash, repeat". Thanks for the level headed video.

I usually buy feed from the Amish and Mennonite. I have had to get feed fron TS. My egg production went from 17 a day to 6 to 7. Switched back and within a few weeks, back to normal. My experience only. Fear God alone people. Listen for a moment. Jesus stated that my sheep here My voice and they know me. Know else the sheep know? The voice of the flock. God is gathering His own. I see it every day. I'm amazed at how many people I meet that are the same as me. Time to celebrate

Yes yes yes!!!!! My chickens haven’t slowed down. I don’t feed mine that brand but goodness…I think we shouldn’t be so quick to accuse or create theories. The victim mentality will get you know where FAST. Thank you for speaking on Jesus. I’m a believer of Him, before anything else.

I love your videos. I appreciate you showing what you do. That you don't push agendas regardless of what you believe, the fear mongering that a lot of other channels do with for every video. We know we are in the last days and that things are going to get worse and we need to take care of ourselves. And it's nice that you show how to vs just do it. Love that you bring the Bible into it because without God in our lives we get well our current events. Keep doing what you are doing. And the people who leave are sad and need a better hobby anyway.

I bought tractor supply. periodically my chickens are mostly free ranged November I bought egg-laying food and corn from tractor supply before the food about 18eggs a week After the food 2 chickens immediately died out of my 5. The other 3 stop laying and died three weeks later this spring those chickens would have been 3 years old What do you think? We are in zone 8 like you not too far from the Appalachian mountains

Not sure. Could be the food. It is a unique issue apart from what I have heard. Most say that their chickens just stopped laying and nobody had chickens die that I had heard from.

Thanks for the information about Tracker Supply. I wonder what type of chickens seem to be having a problem with the chicken feed and what type isn't?

I don't think it is a certain type of chicken. It could be some bad feed from a few feed plants that only affected some people.
