I think Thomas Sowell eludes to times when problems were resolving through grass roots level, by people responsible for improving them, like doctors and patients. Then the Democrats, socialist, Leftist , Marxist ( any group with a control pathology) swoops in and creates a focus group, dumps buckets of tax dollars and makes a new rule/regulation/bureaucracy....just idiocy.

I don't understand "woke" and "cancel" culture either. I am a first born US citizen and I grew up with family members who had first hand experience with dictatorship regime in communist Cuba. My dad when he was alive would tell stories how he was sent to prison for disagreeing with the government and not wanting to join the communist army. My dad understood fighting to protect family is important, but he was against the military industrial complex and forced false wars (Cuban Missile Crisis was propaganda Castro was milking to create more problems for the people). My dad is no longer around, passed over, but his words and stories about standing your ground peacefully and only fight to defend your family... his words and actions on being yourself and doing what is right live on. Albert Einstein was right when he said, "Doing the right thing isn't always popular and what is popular isn't always the right thing."

The same is true of Capitalism, except we ignore how many times the Rothschild's owned Banking consortium keeps robbing us blind with their build to burst economies that keep stealing away our civil liberties and all of our freedoms. America is a plutocracy, not a real democracy. Wage slavery to these foreign banksters is far better in Amerikkka. Fascism is on the rise globally due to these capitalist banksters robbing all nations with their build to burst free market economies. At least we have the illusion of freedom here, it makes us more compliant wage slaves. Remember always that the golden cage is even harder to escape than the rusted cage is. America is the golden cage, North Korea is the rusted cage, at least the rusted cage can be escaped, people in the golden cage don't even realize that they are in a cage because it is golden and shiny. It looks freer but it is a much stronger prison. With the illusion of freedoms. They never even try to escape it. At least the rusted cage is an obvious prison which can be escaped because it is poorly maintained. No one escapes the golden cage. Because they cannot see it is a cage.

@@aoeu256 I am from Norway. The only reasons socialism "works" here is because of the revenue gained by the oil & gas industry, 98% self sufficient in electricity from hydro power and fish export. With out these industries we would not be wealthy at all. Norway can only fund this socialist system because these industries, and people in Norway pay about about 50% in taxes (labor ≈30% + everyday items ≈15-25%). We run on huge deficits and have one of the highest concentration of debt in Europe, because of huge Government programs (as every other country that have a big state). Besides, it is very hard to start small businesses here because of taxations and regulations. On the positive side, it is also a higher trust among people because that is in our culture, and the top politicans don't earn as much as in i.e. the US or Venezuela and are more like the average Joe and Jane than politicians in other countries.

Hence, the cops can later claim they "did their job properly", precisely because they expected the interaction to go relatively smoothly with someone from his demographic. I'm exactly in the same situation, but in reverse: I'm like the inadvertent "safety white boy" when walking alongside a diverse group that might otherwise have a hard time with them. The whole concept of being “triggered” has roots in an old idea regarding teaching and learning in K-12 schools. That idea is that developing “self esteem” in students is more important than teaching/ learning or the students’ answers being correct. “Self esteem” was built by never contradicting students … meaning that teaching was removed from school and replaced by self-affirmation. So, now, it is not surprising that students are upset when their views are challenged or contradicted. Psychologists now know that the “self esteem” approach is totally invalid, but I see it continues to be deployed in schools.

I'm German and we have been subjected to this. Even though WWII is over for almost 80 years and I've been born decades after it ended, I have nothing do to with it, my parents hadn't and my grandparents had the most horrific youth, but were way too young to be politically involved or influential at that time, yet, the amount I've been called a N*** or were judged for the past or what my country did almost 100 years ago, is astonishing. My country is the only one I've come across (and I had the privilege to travel & live in a lot), that actually reflected on its past & I'm so proud of that. I do think reflecting & taking responsibility is very important. In a clumsy way, I think that's what woke tries to do perhaps, because for so many nations it hasn't happened yet... I think there's a lot of denial going on. But cancel-culture or hating on specific people, is so dangerous. Or having certain narratives either way that have nothing to do with truth, evidence or rationality. But I never understood how, for example, the UK, US, Australia or France... get away with so much stuff. In my personal experience, especially the USA/Americans, I gotta say, were very judgemental about Germany's past... I'm kinda of at a point where I'm like "Excuse me, says who?"

The Interviewee and the interviewer, Both are awesome. This was such a nice interview. The Interviewer was genuinely interested and kind. Ms.Park is so admirable. I saw another side of the world that I didn't even know existed through her words. Makes me aware of my own freedom and how I should be grateful for it and how I need to work hard and be positive for creating a better future for the upcoming generation. After all, It is my duty to do so.

Actually said that she was walking away from starvation. It didn’t sound like she knew tyranny was a thing.
