Ryan, this morning 1/25 we had 24F @ 7am in N. Fla. I remember 1977 in Beech Island in my travel trailer, 18F, -29 windchill, ice cicles hanging from RV and wearing 3 layers working @ Columbia Nitrogen with the breeze off Savannah River.

19:00 that guy is doing a great job of keeping the shredder busy without over-filling it. Also, the thumb is instrumental to efficient loading of the shredder. 🙂 If I can spend some of your money, that monster black shredder would be a really useful 'second shredder' for all those mattresses and roofing materials as they come in. There is like a 3 or 4x improvement in compaction between the shredders and the cat with wheels. You really need a dedicated shredder for the incoming hurricane debris. At least for a few months. The way that prototype spool ate through wood and debris was breathtaking. Can you mount that type of proto-spool on the shredder you have on-site? Hungry hombre that one is.

I guess you would need a larger excavator, but have you ever run the bigger Mine trucks instead of articulated trucks? My son drives a Komatsu 465 60 ton truck hauling scrap at a steel plant. I am tired of the cold myself.

If you don't have a flat and level tipping floor, trucks can roll over when hosting up their box. Drives have to back in and have solid soil under the drive tires, if the ground gives away as the box is up in the air and still packed full at the front end; tipping over the truck can happen very quickly.

Go to the tap that's the farthest from the water main and let it trickle. Moving water don't freeze as easy. After a fire from heat tape we quit using it and find we have way less plumbing problems. Why don't they hard face the compactor wheels ?

Have you had trouble with equipment running and operating cause of the cold weather some places it runs slow but down there you don't have to prepare for it like us if really cold below zero can put a little number one Diesel fuel in the hydraulics tank a little bit than as you work it makes it easier and not a lot can go wrong just saying what we do when have too my friend thanks again sorry both post were long but got to see my two favorite people thanks again for posting my friend

That hole is filling up fast. Time for a cost analysis on a shredder to stay at the land fill VS income gained by the amount of trash compaction gained to slow the fill.

Is Canada's fault? They left the door open! Our recycling and garbage crew is running on a skeleton crew, as half our crew is out with the flu or other sickness. Then we're having equipment issues because of the cold and of the snow storm we had on Wednesday. Air and hydrologic controls freeze up and you can't pick up the carts. I have over 65 hours in the last 5 days, I'm just glad to have the weekend off. We ended up having to moving some of the communities we serviced, moved to a day late and have a crew out today finishing up some of the municipalities we service. Even had a new employee on his first day slip and fall and break an ankle. I believe that was his first and last day for us! I had to service a small development with my recycle truck Wednesday as it was getting dark and was snowing. This development had narrow hilly roads that were covered in snow, I had to put my tire chains on to be able to get up and down the hills. It wasn't a fun evening trying to provide service to this development, but I got it done. 😊 Kendra

The county needs to burn what they can. Burke County has been burning everything, which surprised me a little. I know Richmond and Columbia County have been grinding and hauling theirs to the landfills. Maybe they'll start hauling to you. It will fill that hole in a month!
