Dirt is still my absolute favorite rally game on the 360 to be perfectly honest.

The reason as to why Kuru didn't finish the race in the first clip and instead got terminal damage is easy to explain: Every time you finish a race in this game, the game makes your car invincible and waits a few seconds before triggering the cutscene of the driver happily cheering about his win/being disappointed at himself. This cutscene is also very important because when it ends, the game registers you as finishing the race. Kuru crashed into the finish line and triggered terminal damage, which pauses the game in order to avoid a situation of the game rendering the terminal damage screen over all other UI, thus also stopping the timer that waits a few seconds before the race end cutscene. tl;dr: game make car no damage after finish. crash after finish, not before.

You can get this working on Steam Deck with the same Windows setup under Proton 6 or 7, with the only issue being the intro videos not displaying. I don't know if there is a fix for this somewhere as I haven't found one, but at least it is possible to play in Linux. However, if you don't already own the game on Steam, you will need either a pirated copy of the Windows version or a rom dump to run in RPCS3 or possibly Xenia (I don't know if the Xbox 360 version works in emulation, but the PS3 version does). Just bear in mind that only the PC version is compatible with mods that improves framerate, removes the pee filter and adds simulated driving physics. And if you're not using the Steam version, you will need to update it to the latest version before applying any mods. Update files can be found in the archive, along with the game and mods.

The bad damage models are not (always) the fault of the devs. They need to somehow implement damage, all while making sure that the cars don't get damaged too much visually. Idiotic, but for some reason the manufacturers think that it would show their cars in the wrong light. When it comes to good environments take a look at the recent WRC games.

pretty much the best dirt out of the whole mainline dirt series(obv., excluding dirt rally and rally 2.0). Definitely prefer this dirt over dirt 3 because of the more detail orientated car list( hell, there are even pikes peak trucks in this game!!), and way better tracks( pikes peak.... that is all). Pro was quite challenging in some races but some races were still a breeze in which I didn't mind and just saw it as a charm of the game. Races with actual opponents like T raid races were annoying tho since you'll have to plow your way through the pack with a bit of luck in order to keep up with those up in front or you'll have to kiss your victory goodbye.... i liked racing at the track where kuru was struggling to avoid the branches at(forgot the location) but my favorite place to race at, besides pikes peak ofc, is spain because of technical but flowly courses....tuning aspect of the game is decent for a arcade rally game; at least its not like nfs ug tuning where there's hardly any effect to it..... pretty much the best arcade rally racer out there in my opinion.... just wish that some cars like the subaru impreza sti version 2 wrc had there iconic liveries and the citreon xsara and saab 9-3 viggen was there wrc variants, not there rallycross variants but hey, there's always mods.....

2:20 I have gran turismo 3 and 4. And they were the best games I ever played since I was 6 years old. Both games have the most unforgiving license test + the coffee breaks that gran turismo 4 has. But this games are the best games I ever played back in 2012. Yes I was playing on a ps2 back in 2012. I didn't had ps3. Also I played gran turismo 4 before gran turismo 3 because some years later my dad bought a used gran turismo 3 disk in Public. Public is a store for things like phones, laptops etc and they also had video game consoles and video games. Sorry if this was really long to read.
