It has 4 suite lockers for extreme heat and extreme cold environments for both crew members. In lore I think this beast is suppose to transport and retrieve supplies and cargo from the most inhospitable locations. You lose a ship in a planet with 300 degrees C sun rises, you don't send a Cutlass, you send a a Argo Raft.

Oh God. The doors opening on you brought back memories. The first big ship I bought was the Connie. I was so excited I didn't check my ship after walking around it outside. I boarded and took off. A little after I entered quantum I heard footsteps on the bridge. A guy came up and stood next to me and I'm like 'who the fk are you?' And all he said to me is 'hey buddy... you're having a REALLY bad day.' Then he shot me in the face with a shotgun and threw me out an airlock.... that was the first moment I realized people can steal your ship....

This was the most intense ship review I've ever seen. Not only did I learn about the new ship but there was action and suspense halfway through. I was on the edge of my seat.

The reason its 3 is the fact that like the MPUV its the fastest loading and unloading ship in the verse. So unlike the freelancer max which would ( theoretically) take 15-30 minutes to load and unload the raft should be able to do that in literally 10 seconds to a minute. Meaning even though the load is lighter the raft should be able to ferry more things over an hour compared to the freelancer by like 4x

This ship could easily carry 3 more cargo boxes. Maybe even 5 more if it used a chain driven circular storage system.

I've loved this ship since it came out!...however...that maneuverability and speed is tough to live with though :) But all the considerations given for living quarters, suit lockers, and storage is wonderful -not many ships have that thought in their design.

It needs to carry more scu to compensate for that slow speed or make it faster. Everything else is great

The RAFT has one big flaw since they took the 'fixed' 32 scu containers from the model and gave it the cargo 'grid'. It only has 3 cargo snap points! Meaning it can only hold 3 containers, no matter the size. You can have three 1 scu containers and the RAFT is full. If you don't get 3x32 scu at a terminal, you will never get the max 96 scu capacity. As far as I know, the RAFT doesn't have a tractor beam. The station in the back should be the crane control. The beds are also the escape pods in the RAFT.

This is my daily driver, and my bounty hunting ship. Why would I do anything other than cargo in this? Because it's capable of doing it. The NPC's are dumb and keep ramming your ship? Ram them back! One of the greatest features of this ship is how incredibly tanky it is, how it can survive head-on rams when the NPC's can't.

Perfect example of cool but useless ship. I mean the C1 can easily carry 3 x 32 SCU boxes in the back. They seriously need to double the cargo capacity on this.

It might see more spotlight in the future once engineering is here, as doing solo cargo runs in a C2 would be problematic. Plus in the future you should be able to fill 32 SCU containers and even put smaller containers in it, so RAFT may be crucial for org logistics

It just has a huge drawback. Its cargo grid is not compatible with anything other than 32 SCU boxes. For example if you want to put anything other than 32 SCU cargo box, you can only use the 3 claws at the left side of the grid and nothing else. Also you cannot pick those boxes once you place them. Imagine being able to carry only 18 SCU because you did not know of this and miss the timer on illegal salvage.

It's a great ship. Unfortunately, the RAFT's one trick of being able to load and unload quickly got knocked on the head with the introduction of tractor beams, which make moving even 32 SCU boxes pretty trivial. The bespoke cargo lifters on the RAFT are, I think, unlikely to ever do anything useful. Maybe in the future they can put the tractor beam on rails or something to help that "cargo lifter" vibe it has. The living quarters in this ship are the best in the game. It's not a great trader, unfortunately, partly because trading is a numbers game and the cargo grid on this ship isn't exactly flexible. Hopefully it'll come into its own when cargo missions come into the game.

A great concept, made completely useless by CIG, once again! 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ What's the point of a crane ship (it has NO Tractor beam), if anyone and his mother can lift a 32 SCU standard container with a hand held green ray of magic? I had hopes for this ship and had one in the fleet for almost two years. now I's going to be CCU ed to something that makes more sense.

What are you taking about? This from the wiki: ''The crew can monitor cargo transfer and operate the rear-mounted tractor beam from this station.'' Sure, It doesn't work yet, but the Raft has a tractor beam...

@@Captain_Tumbleweed Brochures are often outdated or completely wrong. The rear station is for managing the crane, and all the ships that are supposed to have a tractor beam, already got one. The RAFT does not. Even "IF", what would you supposed to do with a tractor beam squeezed in between the main truss an a series of big containers? how would you load and unload with the first container blocking the view and the ones behind it obstructing you from moving your cargo? I hope the Crane system would be more flexible, loading vehicles and small spacecraft, since the uniqueness of transporting large standard container has been screwed royally by CIG with the tractor beam introduction, and even a Cutlass being able to load and unload faster then a RAFT.

@@Leptospirosi well see with the update to cargo boxes this update.. i have a feeling we wil be getting a box that can be filled on the raft maybe.. would let you load it with anythin you want 32 scu down to a rover anything 32 scu box sized would fit... would be pretty neat imo
