I appreciate you two being critical of Doug when it’s necessary and not blindly agreeing with everything he says. That’s why you are my favorite reaction channel.

Fun fact about the film and it’s creation. It was as primarily inspired by Warhammer 40,000 by the creator of the films own admission (particularly it was the writer of the film). Particularly (while he personally never gave details) the inspiration mostly comes from what happens when the Gellar Fields(a type of protection shield) fail when traveling through the Warp(aka *Literal* Hell on steroids and the *only* means humanity has of Interstellar travel). And it is so much like 40k that some see it as a (unofficial) 40k prequel when humans first invented the Warp drive, but didn’t invent Gellar Fields yet, and this was what prompted their invention.
@andreanecchi59309 ай бұрын
whoever made this film was inspired by warhammer 40k, in fact many like to imagine this film as a kind of prequel to warhammer 40k when humans began to try to travel into the warp, and this film shows exactly how warp possession occurs

I’ve heard the reasoning behind the alterations to the Resident Evil movies was that Capcom didn’t want anyone to get the story from the games in anyway that didn’t involve the games themselves. Bear in mind, this is the explanation behind the decisions, not an excuse for them.
@sebastianemond53139 ай бұрын
Sooo... Anderson wasn't allowed to use the stories from the games, *yet was still allowed the characters and visual shots from the games with no rhyme or reason?* Like with RE: Afterlife, adapting RE 5's conflict with Wesker and the Redfield Twins despite how in the movie, that was the first and only meeting him they had, yet Wesker still calls them an inconvenience?
@allidoiscomment71419 ай бұрын
@@sebastianemond5313 Pretty much. He was basically told he was allowed to make high budget Resident Evil fanfiction with call backs to the games, but no real cohesive story points from them.

You wanna know one weird thing about the movie? It could be a good Warhammer 40k movie, the events in the movie are things that one would expects when is the gellar fields of the ship are down during warp travel, Warp being a plane of existence where is basically ultra hell, which most of the factions use to space travel, for those that don't know.

In his Real Thoughts video about Event Horizon, Doug and Rob mentioned that they also liked the airlock scene (primarily for how suspenseful it was). Their only criticism of it was that the music was a little too overblown. Doug and Rob also both loved the part where Fishburne looks at the video and abruptly says, “we’re leaving!” 😄 “F*** this ship!”

Since the theory is that this is a Warhammer 40k prequel, Henry Cavill could do a remake

He IS a comedian. The chair is realistic as buses do this for their chairs. He sees it as TOO close. The design is the level of realism is very high in SOME aspects but not counter balanced well with the artistic aspects.

26:25 - 27:45 Milla Jovovich: "Oh really?? Which game character do I get to play?" Paul W.S. Anderson: "That's the cool part; you're playing a completely original character who never existed!" Milla Jovovich: "Like... at all?" Paul W.S. Anderson: "That's right, and even though the stories in the games never centered around her, your character will somehow manage to steal the spotlight from fan favorites like Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, and the Redfield Twins. It'll be like the precurser to Jack Sparrow or Daryl Dixon." Milla Jovovich: "Well, as long as the fans have never played the games and know the lore, and thus don't care about representation, I'm completely ok with that!" Paul W.S. Anderson: "Also, *a lot* of your scenes are gonna have you not wearing clothes to hook in teen boys for the PG-13 rating." Milla Jovovich: " *Again,* Paul?" Paul W.S Anderson: "Oh, don't worry. You'll be wearing a dress or catsuit most of the time."

@keelanbarron928 If it were an original story in the Resident Evil world, that would've been risky, but still fine as a stand-alone adaptation, even though that can sometimes backfire immensely. But, the director was hired to adapt the game's story, so the mixture of both just like game and nothing like the game leaves the final product an inconsistent incoherent mess, like Doom or Super Mario Bros: The Movie. Plus, each sequel kinda felt like they were ripping off another popular franchise to boost its own success. Apocalypse was doing Dawn of the Dead, Extinction was doing The Road Warrior, Afterlife was The Matrix: Reloaded and Retribution was Terminator: Judgment Day.
