You could make the same argument about every equine discipline. The fact is horses are born trying to die. Don't judge quite so lightly. By the way, I've never competed in dressage OR eventing and have no interest in either.

It’s extremely dangerous at higher levels and I would never dream of asking him to jump so big when it’s solid, but he has an absolute blast under 3ft, he loves to jump but more than anything he loves to RUN. That boy sees an open field and he perks up immediately. I take him xc because it’s fun for the both of us and it’s amazing to see how happy he gets

X country is so much better than stadium in my opinion, you feel free, jumping in big open fields over logs and bushes, rather than stadium (this is going to sound stupid) which makes you feel trapped. You’re in a fenced in ring (most of the time) going over artificial jumps. I don’t know how to explain it but when I’m on a cross country course I’m at peace, I feel free, I can finally escape my thoughts. And it’s something new every fence rather than just a plain old painted rail between two flags. Trust me when your in the big field not thinking about what others think, and it’s just you and your horse you feel free and forget everything else even exists it is the best feeling in the world

It’s insane to practice a sport whereby you put others in life danger - in this case the many horses with broken legs etc that are then immediately put down to just get replaced. Jump out of a plane, go bungy jumping, do whatever to put just your own life at risk for the sake of. Stricter controls are needed in every sport - event where animals are concerned, they never asked for this. A fun forest ride with natural not too high jumps or weird set ups which the horse cannot even judge can be enjoyed by both horse and rider. It’s nothing to do with testing the bonds you have with hour horse when they have been forced from a young age to do whatever they’re told, as horses will also keep running till they drop dead if made to do so. It’s the repsonsibility of any animal owner to safe guard the health and life of their ‘property’. And that means more education as to what they real effects are because of human whims, and not personal interpretations of what your animal loves to do as most would please without any real pleasure.

Uh babe, you do know statistically more people get killed in eventing then horses right Also if you think horses don't get a choice in what discipline they do then you don't have very good horsemanship
@Different-j4e2 ай бұрын
@@Saltyanddone everyone has the choice to do a sport whereby they themselves risk dying like I mentioned. Just to not put others at risk including animals. One is already too many. @@Different-j4e I definitely don't know everything but I've been doing this for a life time and I've already had the "no consent" debate, you are welcome to put your two sence in, I just don't agree with it, (just means I've done my reserch and come to my own educated conclusion that happens to not agree with you, doesn't mean I'm dense like you are implying) If you don't think horses have to consent to the things we train them then you very much lack horsemanship and probably should go back to the basics, you can't for a horse to do anything, it's not right and also you'll probably kill yourself Horses understand the risk, they are careful and refuse if they feel they can't make it safely, they also feel joy about doing it same as we do (I had a horse who I put in retirement who got depressed and stopped eating, I ended up bringing him back into light work and it got him eating again, and he jumps little logs like they are 4 foot like he used to, don't know what else you would call that other then consent) And I will further add that we allow children to event, they don't have the same ability to consent as adults, but they do understand to some extent the dangers (so somewhere in the middle) yet there is no debate So in conclusion Horses do have the ability to consent and do consent, so I really fail to see how this is even an argument
