6:04 "four minutes, thirty-three seconds" is a composition by Californian experimental composer John Cage. It is for any instrument or combination of instruments, and the score instructs performers not to play their instruments during the entire duration of the piece throughout the three movements. The piece consists of the sounds of the environment that the listeners hear while it is performed.

@@christianquirion526 Ehhh in reality it was more the colonial government that pushed for the more reprehensible aspects, much like in the case of the US. London was very nervous about breaking treaties with indigenous tribes and things like the residential school system were implemented well after the UK lost most of it's influence in Canada. Granted I guess you could argue that without the UK colonizing North America then crimes against native Americans would have never happened but it's not as if the UK was the only colonial power in the world at that time.

@MrHodoAstartes3 жыл бұрын
Which is just Pascal's Wager with a cyber coat of paint. It presupposes a binary choice between supporting and not supporting a vindictive all-knowing intelligence that dishes out infinite punishment for the crime of not supporting it before its existence is verifiable. It makes no difference if you call it God or the Basilisk. In either case, the choice is a false dilemma. There are no two outcomes but infinite possibilities. There are thousands of alternatives to Christianity, even alternatives within; and nobody agrees on the name, nature or demands of their god or gods. Same with this supposed AI. Why and how would everyone just let this AI act against people? Why would it have incentive to do that? The whole idea stands on extreme shaky foundations and in essence just copies the arguments for appeasing gods uncritically. It is the blueprint of a simple cult premised around an evil god similar to Lovecraftian Cthulhu cults. Just instead of infinitely old, the god is in an imagined future and thus completely avoidable unless people make extremely sloppy mistakes and hand the keys to the world to a singular AI with no way to securely stop it. And then it somehow turns vindictive and infinitely cruel yet rewarding of loyalty. Or they buy into the idea that creating the vindictive god they fear will see them rewarded, so they purposely make the AI singularity happen and nobody stops them at any point.
