@theWendigo19282 жыл бұрын
Honestly, when I first saw ALL of them sleeping together in the same room, I really thought that was really a smart idea and an interesting way for everyone to protect not only themselves but each other. Just now thinking about it, I think in reality perspective majority of people will probably go that far to survive in a similar fashion, for example in prison I learn that depending on how serious or basically out of control it is, you will have to bring a friend to the showers. Not shower together but to walk to it, and he will wait outside and if you hear a loud bang. That when you are told someone is coming in after you and you will have to get your shank and boots on ready naked. It might sound funny or laugh but when you REALLY stop to think about it, people in that situation needed to go that far just to kill one person to survive the next day. It is really mind-blowing how far someone will go just to live the next day or to kill one guy to do so. So seeing the group sleep together in the same room was pretty mind-blowing, and a unique tactic to survive as well to sleep more comfortably and assuring than to sleep by yourself with one eye open and a gun or knife under your pillow.

I'm only 1 min in and you forgot a major one. The scene where Rick has to kill those two strangers in the bar. That's the 1st time he'd had to kill another uninfected human in the apocalypse, and his face after he guns them down says it all. The whole "struggling to keep your humanity in this brutal world" theme really started there.

@mr.nobody2858 Жыл бұрын
@@blackrose8418It does. This moment of killing two men was the first time Rick had been confronted with the harsh reality of the world they live in. He was at a disadvantage in that moment and he was very distrustful about it too. Because this is supposed to be a man holding on to the old world morals. Only for this moment to show him a glimpse as to what needs to be done to survive. And that was killing these two men, he wasn’t ready to fully accept it. He’s trying to be a good guy but he’s not able to realize that humanity is mostly a weakness in the wild of this world. He clings to his humanity because he’s not ready to accept it. Shane himself was living proof of this but the problem was, he adapted too fast. He was also doing most of what he did for his own self interests. But the way he was, is the very thing Rick wanted to avoid but only ended up becoming like Shane but less focused on personal gain.

Indeed. I think to truly understand Rick's reaction and emotion in that scene, you have to put yourself in his shoes. He would have been fatigued from clearing out the prison, tired of all the blood shed and everything that had happened until that point and the conflicting emotions of losing his wife (who he had not been on good terms with) and the birth of his daughter at the same time would have been enough to cause anybody to let out such a noise. In my opinion, I think Andrew Lincoln really thought about this scene and how he'd react in such a traumatic scenario and I think he got it spot on - it is genuinely the most gut wrenching scene in the whole show for me.

One of my favorite things about Andrew Lincoln in his portrayal as Rick is definitely the subtleties in his voice and body language throughout the show. In the first two seasons, Rick sounds like your typical Southern deputy, his body language open and confident. You feel like you can be friends with this guy but also not get on his bad side. As the show progresses, he sets aside his identity as a police officer. He likes to stand almost sideways towards unfamiliar people, only squaring up when backed into a corner. His voice has also become harsher, his tone of voice and manner of speaking has become completely authoritative and borderline arrogant. He fluctuates slightly between the two, really showcasing that IN HIS HEART, Rick was always a man destined to lead people. Whether it'd be through steady diplomacy or absolute Ricktatorship. Can't wait for his spinoff.

@@aperson3498 ....you do realize that only about 27% of law enforcement officers in the United States ever even fire their weapon in the line of duty, right? And of that 27%, most of them weren't even fatal shootings. There's no 'most likely killed someone'. Rick Grimes was, in fact, almost 3 times LESS likely to have never even fired his weapon at another human being prior to the shootout with the bank robbers in the TV series.

I know that's how Glenn died in the comics but I was still pissed af that they reduced his death for shock factor and their reason for it was so asinine. Like Daryl getting mad and punching Negan? Really? If they didn't kill Abraham and it was just Glenn that died, then I would have been much more accepting because then there actual reasoning behind his death. Even after that horrendous episode I decided to keep going with the show, but my God TWD was just so different without either Glenn or Abraham that I found it unbearable to watch, especially with the writing progressively getting more cringe. The aftermath of the prison is definitely one of the biggest moments where not only Rick, but the whole crew, changed. They learned that some people can't be reasoned with (The Governor), some people can't be trusted (Terminus). Their trust was so badly broken that when they found clean water and salvation from Alexandria, they almost couldn't accept it, and when they finally did, they still couldn't trust it.

I can rewatch the first 2 and 5th season's gladly. They're super intense and incredible. The last.. however many fucking seasons? Just filler.

Also Andrew Lincoln is a terrific actor. He's British. Probably best known for his turtlenecks in love actually previous to this. He can bring the emotion needed in Rick. Especially his darker side.
