Hi, I live in Ipswich and quite often go to Shotley or Felixstowe to watch the ships, in fact I was at Shotley yesterday but left before "Ever Gentle" arrived. One thing that puzzles me is what is the "sunk". I've seen you mention it before, is it a sort of holding area where the ships go before entering the port..

Thanks for your comment. The Ever Gentle was the heaviest Evergreen to visit Felixstowe. The Sunk is an area roughly 12 miles off shore where pilots board ships either for Felixstowe/Harwich/Ipswich and also London/Medway. They have a separation scheme so ships can safely navigate the Channels in the area in all weather's.
