Hey Tinman, i like to smear a little bit of Automotive Goop goop in grooves of the bushings, when it dries hardens up those bushings very well!. 👍🤙🏾🤙🏻🤫

Good stuff. Especially the two points relative to work saws & "bore & stroke" :) And btw the 48mm 572 moves even more towards enhancing the "pump" :)

I used 266, 268, and 272 at different times in the late 80s and early 90s for a falling saw when in small timber. I ran a 32 inch bar. Can't remember a Rev problem but I ran the stiffest mounts I could get and changed them every season.

You are dead right, having reliable saw makes it easier to live with , cutting cookies don't tell much to guys earning a living cutting wood. The most reliable shape of any saw it's sometimes as it came out of factory at least the old ones ware designed to be like that. Love your content.

There’s a soft and “hard” AV mount available from Husqvarna for these saws. I use the hard ones, they still flex just not a easily as the soft mounts. They did change the design of the AV mounts at some point, very early saws had smaller diameter mounts, later saws use bigger mounts. Not sure if OEM AV mounts are available anymore for the early saws.

You could use rubber stoppers for test tubes/flasks. You could cut and drill them to the size you desire. They are chemical resistant as well. Or the rubber feet that are on the bottom of a small compressor. Just my 2 cents worth. Great stuff. It would be nice to see you put Hogan's saw together in one video if it's doable. Might be slightly longer video but it would be interesting to see a complete build without cutting away. Maybe a two parter... just a thought. Enjoyed this one, thanks for the insight. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

You might check faucet washers for the added bumper stops. Most of them are black, and they come in a variety of thicknesses and diameters.

I was going to mention Chem Lab flask stoppers which someone has already commented on. They DO come blank and with hole(s). I think the previous suggestion of faucet washers is an excellent idea. Some washers come in large, medium, and small, for some sizes, but I do not know if that describes thickness. Good Luck

That pull handle on your 266 is great! I run my Dads old 266 and it's my favorite sales. She's smashes trough 30 inch fir. Back in 2006 I bought a 353 e tech brand new. I ran it for a few years and really liked it. I came down to the Koots to visit my Dad and offered to trade him for his 266 but he wouldn't haha.

Torque is EVERYTHING as long as it can pull somewhat decent rpm. Coincidentally a lot of torquey saws are often more reliable than 15k rpm barn burners.. Give me a 11 or 12k reliable saw with a bigger sprocket any day.

I've been dealing with this issue on my 346xp. I did get it to act better after cutting a small notch out of the throttle rod bellows and giving the rod a little bend. I've been suspecting the AV mounts were getting tired though, that must be the real issue. I can't find where anyone has had that issue with the 346 though unless one of the springs was obviously compromised.

use black windshield urethane in the area of where you put the rubber stops . wedge the gap as large as possible while the urethane sets , so that in its actual running position it is compressed .... it has to be urethane , not silicone , they are not the same thing .
@charlesboston1
@charlesboston1 Жыл бұрын
btw urethane is fairly permanent , if it gets on clothing , it isn't coming out once it sets ..... to remove the gas tank , the urethane will need to be cut out ( like removing a windshield ) .

Suggestion tinman, instead of mounting it to the fuel tank side, the engine bottomed end side can be drilled, and then using a pull through rubber mount like say on certain stihl models you can mount from underneath, it's neater....and black too. I'll find something appropriate. What's your gap in mm?
@tinmanssaws
@tinmanssaws Жыл бұрын
That was my plan but there's no room to.do that on these saws. The kill switch screw and intake elbow screw in each side prevent top mounting.

Back in my younger “racing days” we used to make po mans polyurethane motor mounts by filing the gaps in stick engine mounts with polyurethane caulking. Idk if it actually worked, mighta been a placebo. How deep did you drive the screws in?

pound for pound , they are one of the best saws husky has ever made .... they respond really well to mild porting .....they can be made to pull some almost insane rpm , and pull hard ..... the downside is there isn't much in the aftermarket for them ..... some parts from the 55 will interchange ..... but the biggest thing is the crank , if you run these saws , find a couple good used cranks for spares ....... if i get some time this year during breakup , i want to graft a 272 cylinder to one , it just needs the correct thickness spacer for the bottom of the cylinder

372 xp vs 272 xp…. Well , the 372 is a slightly better saw overall but I wouldn’t knock the ol 272 , seems like she’s got a bit more torque in the wood 🪵 apples to apples. 372xp is a more modern design , better av and inboard clutch however If horsetrading ya can get (2) of em for the price of 1 371,372 as folk want a small fortune for either … Imho the slight increase in displacement 72.2cc vs 70.6 gives a fuzz more torque … just my opinion your mileage may vary 😊
