Lol thank you. I dont necessarily like to make long videos cause its a tough process. But sometimes necessary to do the job properly. And yeah.. Will be looking at the carts on the Alpha soon. I think that'll be quite important to see what works well with the arcade set up. Obviously you can pretty much play anything by adding a joypad but I'm mire curious to see what works with the Alpha joystick and buttons.

Really appreciate the video as it goes through all of those questions - how well the carts work, where the issues are, and great point you make about it giving new ways of playing the existing collection. We found this with the VS - some games just fit the VS better and it seems like the Alpha will be exactly the same. Well done and thank you - great overview with positives and areas for improvement for Blaze. They need to line up some heavy hitting Arcade carts to make this really hit home - it looks like a great device and one we hope to get super soon!

Good to see you got an Alpha review unit. Good, in depth video, critical when appropriate. I really do not like the open cart slots, I can forgive the lack of an HDMI port, but for the price, it should protect those cart slots and either have a few more included games, or at least a slightly larger screen for two players for the price point.

Thank you for going so In depth with this review and answering the finer questions I am a bit mixed on the size of the device as I want to get the street fighter cabinet and I don't see two people crouched around a tiny screen with one using a controller and one persons hands maybe In the way but It Is extremely extremely high quality looking I know I shouldn't expect a full size cabinet, I don't know where I would put It honestly so I am mixed the biggest appeal for me Is being able to use any evercade arcade cart as It would be perfect for single player score based games, Just set It up In the corner for guests I love the demo mode for the authentic arcade experience because when you walk Into an arcade you see the game running you aren't seeing a menu

Pay postage to get a broken cart reprogrammed & to tell retailers to part ship 🚢 orders because I added all the items together. I'm still waiting for tomb raider 2 consoles and a tate grip? Now I own most of the evercade library, but if I didn't, would I buy more cartridges ATM? No, that is the answer because I'd be waiting for hardware. Rant over ❤

Both Deluxe are now out of stock in UK Funstock 😂🤣😅 they probably only made 100 each 👿👹😨😭😢 Lucky I decided to pre order the Street Fighter 1 too, but I won't be opening it. I'm just having it to complete my collection 🤗 as I have every Evercade cartridges. I dunno why u would buy the Mega Man Deluxe version for Sanwa buttons, ur not gonna be doing hard special/super moves and chain combos 😂 but for the extra controller & marquees maybe 😉😆😊 I wouldn't play it straight out of the box, I suggest investing a acrylic panel for the controller panel first before using it, as in time it will fade out the panel and probably feel uncomfortable rubbering ur hands over it, might get friction burns 🤣😂🤐 It be more as a collector tbh. Ur not gonna wanna really be playing these games on an 8inch screen & no room on the control panel for long period of time. Is it possible to use the controller on USB P1 instead of the main joystick? I hope it will be hacked and mod to play FightCade/MAME or just install an Mini PC instead 😚😙😗😘😍

When I had to choose between the Mega Man and Streetfighter versions, I had to choose between the appearance of the device and the games it contained. The Mega Man version looks much cooler, but in my opinion the games on it should not even be in the shadow of the games on the Streetfighter version. Moreover, Final Fight and Strider are also already on the EXP. In the end I opted for the Streetfighter version because I am sure that I will want to play those games much more often than the Mega Man games, Strider and the two beat um ups. The schmup game is probably the only game I would enjoy.

No, it doesn't work. It's been rejigged to be unlocked with a different button combo.

Probably doesnt play pacman well because arcade machine pacman arcade stick didnt have diagonals. Just north south east west directions. You could put a different gate on that stick and itd probably play perfectly. But then the other games that do utilise diagonals will be fudged. Just to clarify nall there are save states on arcade1up cabinets. Atleast on the ones i have anyway.

Good point. Though I do recall getting stuck playing pacman arcade plenty of times. I suspect it was just cause the joystick was done through excessive use.

There is another method that I tend to use on my Pac-man bar top, let go of the controls before you make a turn. Just allow the stick to go back to the middle before making a turn, no need to continually hold a direction before turning. It may help.

I thought the tate mode games looked great on the Alpha screen. It helps that its a 4:3 ratio screen so bertical games still have plenty of screen space. Better than playing them on a normal modern telly or the EXP with their widescreen.

Finally they sent you an Alpha too. I don't think there is a single channel on KZbin that makes as much content about Blaze products as you do. It's like only American You Tubers matter to Blaze. Even KZbin channels that I have not heard of before have already reviewed this device. As for the device. I think it would be fun to play with it sometime, but ultimately I don't think mine will get much playtime. It seems more like a novelty than a serious arcade machine or console. In addition, I keep saying that Blaze has screwed the people who want a complete Evercade game collection by releasing 2 Alphas with different games. €229 for this device is a lot of money and I am certainly not going to spend it twice. I'm even now unsure whether I should continue or whether I should stop buying every cart Evercade releases. I may sell the carts that are still neatly sealed and in the future I may only buy carts that I actually want to play.

I am a also a tad concerned about the condition these will arrive in with international shipping. Funstock's packaging is abysmal with things left rattling around in oversized boxes and no protective packaging. For the money you are paying for one of these that's not what you want. Corner protectors should be a must. The slot 1 "Not recognised" thing is also an issue with the VS.

@@CrazyBurger I emailed Funstock after my Limited Edition Super Pocket box got dinged up because they put the pin badges in with it with no protective padding. They said they don't use protective padding for environmental reasons but would pass on the feedback. Atari Super Pocket came in an equally enormous box and has already had to be replaced as it seemed to have screen damage. It cannot be profitable for them to have to replace Alphas so I would really suggest they up there game here. Regarding that Pac Man issue. I found it equally unplayable on the OG handheld. Pac Man needs 4 way controls ideally. I thought they patched it in at one point but maybe not.

I’ve found Funstock to pack pretty good. Might depend on who exactly packs the unit at their warehouse etc :/ I certainly wouldn’t want to know how packages are handled by any of the couriers 😬 I can’t blame them tho, it’s usually all about speed and efficiency so things have to be super well packed. Unless it’s a specialist service for fragile goods.

15:25 the coinbutton should be switched with the turn on/off button on the coinslot because...the coinslot is supposed to be used for insert a coin /: or put the turn on/off button on the back of the arcade bartop...

Great video John and so glad Blaze rectified their oversight and got an Alpha over to you. The Megaman version looks fantastic and I'm happy that you pulled off the screen protection film without removing the screws as that's how most people will do it before realising they'll probably have to remove the screws to get the rest of the bits off. Many thanks for answering pretty much all the questions I had and just one thing to note. The Alphas on Amazon UK are now up to the normal RRP of £230 which makes it even more pricey for those who haven't pre-ordered already. It's a great product for the right person e.g. somebody more arcade focused and maybe not having the room for a larger arcade cabinet. I'll be sticking with my Jaycade Bartop for now but if there's a deep discount later next year, I may just have to pick one up ;-) Keep up the awesome work!

Nice, finally a detailed review, glad to see Blaze did the right thing. It is nice but it's not perfect, it should have a clear Perspex protector on the control board, and with a screen of that size they should have put a video out for multiplayer use. I'd probably replace the knob with an old fashioned ball top too, but that's a personal preference. I can't justify one personally, if I had all the arcade and some 8-bit and home computer carts it'd make sense. Taito need to do an actual cart now, how can you have an arcade without Space Invaders (the Atari version doesn't count).
