I loved Kenton's comparison of mountaineering and sailing! Different people, different styles... higly personal experience as Alan says. What a great interview.

I always loved walking and adventuring with my brother through the mountains and ridges here in my area, I respect the avid climbers ( of which I am not), I just always loved walking in nature the peace, the beauty! My childhood treks couldnt even compare to what Alan and Kenton have done, but I really enjoyed this interview and almost wish I had kept up my walking and activity throughout my life! ( I just twisted my ankle and have a bruise across the top of my swollen foot !).... Fascinating to see and hear of ppl going to everest! Never heard stories of it until recent years and Love watching ppl summit! Glad I came across Alan’s videos here on You tube!

I think this channel is highly underrated. I mean there are more comments, good or bad, in mountaineering blogs and magazines when watching videos should actually be easier than reading an article. Maybe because the motivation for the vlog, blog and podcast is non-commercial and that marketing would be too much to handle for one person? Anyway, nice work!

Thanks for replying. But here's the thing with this Covid situation. I live in the UK and for some period of time my government has barred folk here from travel outside the country unless it's for work and one or two other reasons none of these are for personal jaunts to climb Himalayan hills. God knows I'd like to have gone on the three trips to various mountains in Europe this past year but did not. My point here is that as stated there are more folk at base camp this year than ever before . How did they get there , how many villages did they pass through how many folk had they been in contact with and all because they selfishly wanted to climb a bloody hill. So Kenton Cool was there on account of his work yeah I get that but his client and those along with other commercial guiding teams were not. I think it rather a pertinent subject to broach with Kenton.

I will never climb any mountains due to cost I think I could do them with lots of training as I’ve got the right body shape and stamina. But I love watching documentaries and the incredible feats people accomplish

Hi Guys. Stumbled on this interview by accident. Interesting commentary. I sensed a little hesitation in justification for folk of varying ability to exercise their right to try and possible die in the process. I was a very average climber myself. Freedom of choice? Not sure about the anarchic mindset of all climbers. I suspect many who attempt Everest have very high paid jobs in respectable professions. Could be Atilla the stockbroker I guess. But the privilege, which it is, does carry a great responsibility to others, none more so than climbing Sherpas and porters and the Nepalese people in general. With this in mind Im curious on the level of responsibility displayed in pursuing ambition in midst of a Global Pandemic, in a country amongst the worst hit with the near crumbling health service currently overwhelmed. I sincerely hope that all would be summiteers have contingency plans for evacuation to homelands in the event of contracting Covid and won't be reliant on Nepals woefully inadequate health infrastructure. I think that alone says something of the mindset. Just a thought and much respect to both commentators.
