Just goes to show when something is old doesn't mean it still can't do work.

There's no sound that sounds so good as a hard working steam locomotive; the 11 starting and shoving that cut of cars across the grade crossing at the end was the icing on the cake. Thanks for a great video, I very much appreciate the long shots that give a person a chance to soak in the local flavor of the scene. Nice!

A nice sized locomotive that would be fun to fire / run!

It's really quite cool that they use the old steam loco to move freight cars every so often.

Yeah. For a small locomotive, (2-6-0) it had a cool but commanding whistle.

that's such a strange combination, the old steam engine with the modern hi-cube boxcars

That was totally BOSS. Got to keep current and why not...? Big rail should train there engineers on steam that the renovate and keep some motive stock current, just in case and because it looks good and reminds people of the past.

So which railroad is this and is it a freaght railroad that has a tourist operation? Or does someone else own the locomotives and the railroad let's them run there?
@leakyvalleyproductions762 жыл бұрын
This is the Everett Railroad, they are a short line freight railroad but they also run tourist trains which are sometimes powered by 11. They just happen to haul freight with 11 when it deadheads because it’s more convenient

Is this the locomotive that worked on the Everett Railroad in Everett PA, many years ago? I rode in the cab, might have been in the 60's. Good to see it running at speed, that never happened back at Everett.
@leakyvalleyproductions76 Жыл бұрын
No, this locomotive was acquired by the Everett railroad in 2006

Found a reference, this is the second #11, I rode the first #11, a 2-6-2, now on display in Everett, PA..

@leakyvalleyproductions76 Жыл бұрын
I believe it’s the 11’s original whistle, it’s an Alco 5 chime

Thats probably the shortest cargo train you Americans have ever seen
@wceyuki Жыл бұрын
we've had shorter, sometimes even 1 car trains with multiple engines on the main big railroads that go cross-continent
