It’s been a good two days for girl groups. Aespa, StayC, Everglow….and tripleS subunit LovElution. We eating good . Just the last two days I got two SOTY candidates (LovElution and Aespa) , and an album of the year contender (LovElution). But Slay is a great song and the other two Bsides are good too. I’m just glad Everglow finally had a comeback…I was worried. And I’m glad Everglow stuck to their sound…it slaps .

First comeback for me and it was mind blowing. E:U? Sheeeeeeesh, she got my attention from the get goin this one, god damn her rap, i can't with this, she got me in a chokehold frfr. Idk what to feel after watching this one tbh. I am absoutely speechless rn. This has to be the one of the best mvs i have ever seen in kpop. One of the best buildups and drops. They were gone for 1 year and they came back with a BANGER like this!?!?!? They know how to come in HOT for sure. One thing to note is that the girl with the short hair named Mia was forced to cut her hair by the company but she didn't want too. At first i didn't like it as well, but when the mv dropped and i saw her in short hair, i liked it. EVERGLOW FOREVER LETS GO. ❤👏👏👏🥰 THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXCITING REACTION. .

If you don't like it, I'd hope you enjoy checking out their B-Sides - the two B-sides are both pushing Hush as my favourite B-side every from Everglow. I wasn't terribly impressed with Slay on first listen, and after spending more time on it I like it a lot more and I think it's just the lyrics which really lets the song down, it's just a generic list of statement lines that don't really gel perfectly to me. Their previous composer also wasn't involved in this song so naturally the sound is a little different, although I'd still say it's very Everglow overall. Still put it ahead of Pirate for me, and arguably ahead of Bon Bon Chocolat once I fade out the generic lyrics.

I'll agree that this is better than Pirate. I liked some parts of Pirate but other parts, not so much. I do love First though. I consider it one of their best. Slay isn't one of their best comebacks but it still slaps. It's a very good song in and of itself. It's definitely going on some playlists.

I don't understand this "They've been gone a while so this should have been OMG EPIC!!" response I've been hearing. I mean, I kind of get it, but it's a bit misplaced. Any comeback has the potential of being epic, a flop or anything in between. The amount of time between those comebacks really isn't a factor, unless of course it's been rushed because comebacks are too close together. I'm sure that the people involved with making this song thought it was great, otherwise they wouldn't have put so much effort into releasing it. With that being said, it's okay if the song was a miss for you. Music is subjective. But, please, don't let "It's been this long since..." influence your opinion. It's a little unfair to the people who made and / or are performing the song. With that begin said, I think this song slaps. It's not their best but it's definitely going to end up on a playlist or two.
