Stunning,still get the shivers listening to Lucy,best vocalist out there in my opinion,though its not just the vocals,Lucy has an inner magic that is very rare!,for this time of year there is 'Have yourself a merry little Christmas' by Lucy,& 'Oh Holy night'& 'Mary did you know' by the sisters,should be the Xmas#1 instead of the usual suspects Maria Carey etc!. Hey Dazza...Very nice reaction to Lucy's "Evergreen" presentation. I think Lucy hit this one out of the park. I am sure Babs would love this version. I love this song and IMO it's one of Lucy's best although I think every song Lucy has done is a masterpiece because she is simply a phenomenal vocalist!!!

It's understandable how one can prefer one version of something over another...afterall, art is subjective. But to use superlatives as "Way better than the original by Streissnd," is just preposterous and reeks of bias, not personal preference.

Actually, it would be disrespectful to any artist who has stood the test of time and has had a highly successful career. There's still plenty of time for Lucy to make her mark... good luck to her.

@@donnamentrasti2695 What we individually think is our own personal view, not the artist’s or any others. However each is entitled to their personal opinion and what they like. Lucy fans don’t speak for Lucy and as has been said probably Lucy hugely respects Barbra Streisand and is honoured to be compared to Barbra and sing her song. I’m sure many have said Barbra Streisand was a better singer than others. If one thinks Lucy is way better than Barbra Streisand, that’s their own opinion and not being disrespectful to anybody. I also thought Lucy was better than Barbra, but I’m not being disrespectful, and credit to Barbra Streisand for co-writing the song and creating the song and making it a hit in her day. However I’ve never been a fan of Streisand so don’t listen her, - again that’s not being disrespectful. As I’m sure you Donna or Barbra are not fans of my favourite bands. This is a Lucy Thomas reaction post and some try to promote Lucy. If some prefer Barbra, or Lucy or like both equally, or hate it, that’s up to them.

Barbra Streisand wrote this song, along with Paul Williams, and it won an Oscar and a Grammy for Best Original Song. So now do yourself a favor and watch the OG of this song perform it unrehearsed, in one take, along with her Co-star, Kris Kristofferson; it became a very popular scene in the movie "A Star Is Born" (1976) and can be found on YT.

@cristy4742 Hi, Christy... yes I do remember. I really have no issue at all with new talent, and welcome it. But when fans of these new YT artists start to canonize them as better than who many feel is the GOAT in the music industry among female vocalists, before they've done a single thing other than to basically simulate an iconic song on YT, that's stood the test of time for 50 years, it's not only laughable, but disrespectful imo.. Streisand was a phenom out of the gate just about, singing in NYC clubs at the age of 18. No one had ever heard a voice like that, a style like that (and all genuinely her own) nor saw anything so quirky and unusual like her before. She rarely sang covers either like these YTers do today; she chose songs that spoke to her, and most were hardly known by her audiences, until she made them her own. There was no social media, YT, singing competition shows or any of the advantages young artists have today then. There are so many young artists out there today who started as young as 15 (ie, Billie Eilish), and have made huge impacts and have big careers. It's not just about having a good voice, it's having originality and chutzpah too. I have tremendous respect for those artists. Four years ago, a 77 year old Barbra Streisand stood toe to toe, and note for note, with a 26 year old Ariana Grande in a duet of "No More Tears," at one of Barbra's concerts; when it was over, both ladies praised each other's talents... Barbra said, "One of the best new voices to come around in our times, Ariana Grande." And then Ariana said, "And the greatest voice of all time, Barbra Streisand." You gotta respect the ones who paved the way, that's all I'm saying.

Donna, Lucy has said, on many occasions, that Barbra IS her idol and her style is very similar to hers. We will soon find out whether Lucy is worthy of such praise after her premier of her musical, "Rosie", takes off late next year. You are correct in saying people worship Lucy like she is a goddess, an angel, a princess, etc.! The folks who have met Lucy said she is very sweet, polite, extremely approachable, and quite modest, a prim-and-proper English woman, as they say! Lucy cannot have selected a better role model than Barbra, that's for sure! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

@briankrames1883 Thank you, Brian, for an honest and rational response. My issue has NEVER been with Lucy...I hope she reaches the stars in her career and wish her well in her "Rosie" debut. She certainly has the goods for Broadway; anything after that will be her decision. But my issue has always been with fans that make these outlandish comments such as the one I pointed out earlier. Most of them I don't doubt even have a clue about Streisand's career. And it's not just Lucy's fans... there are several other young YT vocalists whose fans are just as myopic and silly with their claims. I am not surprised at all that Lucy's idol is Barbra; so many that have come after her and before Lucy have made this same claim... even the aforementioned Ariana Grande who was in the same audience I was in at a Barbra concert in 2006, in South Florida, when she was just 12 years old. Yes, time will tell how Lucy's career takes off. I'll be long gone in 50 years to see if she managed to sustain a career at the top for as long as Barbra has. We'll have to check back from another dimension. 😉 All the best for the holidays.
