Good effort and straight forward repair in the end. It’s a real shame they tried to take the pi55 and offer you £500 knowing they could easily repair and sell on the used market.

I'd consider replacing those RIFA capacitors, they have a reputation for exploding when they get old.

@@Rwecosher Yes, I believe it's that clear yellowy style of capacitor, I can only assume that the RC variants suffer the same fate as they are basically the same but with an internal resistor added. The resin case cracks with age and lets moisure in - then they fail quite spectacularly. Quite a lot of examples of them on KZbin.
