This song breaks my heart, because instead of healing these darker parts of our society, we've only added fuel to the fire since this song's release in 1998. Just be kind to one another, it should be so simple 😔

Yep, (hypothetically) "you" might just end up sitting beside the person "you" criticize for being this, that, or the other: in the same boat, trying to keep it (e.g., life) afloat. ✌️

I have been on life's roller coaster ride for 60 years. In just a few minutes this song sums up what it takes some people many years to realize about life. Sadly enough some people never get it This video is top notch in all aspects. The video production, camera panning, angles and cinematic effects add so much to the important and well thought out message portrayed in the lyrics of this song. The under water scenes were an ingenious way to drive home the point that we are all drowning in a pool of stereotype and criticism and the only way to escape it is through realization and self thought. 👍

THANK YOU. My mother was active duty Navy, and she is so ripshit pissed about all this progression on all kinds of choice going back to the 70's getting reversed (as am I) and she says, "I fought for freedom of choice. Having a choice IS freedom.".and she's 100% service connected, too. It breaks my heart for her, for me, for my son (that I had and am raising all on my own because someone else needs their balls cut off as well, but I'm 100% pro-choice, and I made my choice) and for just everyone else out there getting personal freedoms revoked because so many people decided nothing is a personal choice anymore.

Everlast is a person...formerly of the group 'House of Pain'. He had a devastating heart attack in his late 20's or early 30's & started his solo career afterward. If I'm not mistaken, this song is from his solo album "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues". VERY popular in the late 90's! Eminem & Everlast also had serious beef in the early 2000's.

Really like you're intelligent interpretation of this great song that I loved the day it came out. I especially like what you said about how you never know what someone is going through, even a celebrity. Years ago several celebrities were what I would at the time have called and did call "rude" to me. Bette Midler and Chris Rock were two that I met up close and personal and were very indifferent and not what you would call friendly at all in my modest interaction with them. In Bette Midler's case, I found out years later that the manager boyfriend she had at that time, who I also met, was beating the living shit out of her and controlling her and when I read that, I remembered her face when I met her and how absolutely wretched and sad she looked. Defeated. So as you say, you never know what a person is going through. I'm a person who has much chronic pain and I know sometimes I probably come off as rude or not friendly , and it's simply because I feel like I'm going to collapse most times. Anyway, great job reviewing this song.

It's not just this generation that feels that they can weigh in how others live their lives. Particularly on the subjects of abortion and gay rights/gay marriage, many people feel that someone else's decision about what to do for themselves somehow impinges on their own lives in some way. Love this song,, thanks for reacting to it.

As a recovering addict I just wanted to say how grateful I am that people are representing those who have serious personal struggles in their lives. Many of these people do not have a voice so it is beautiful that you are giving them a voice. This is my first time seeing you and it definitely won't be the last. You may think that you are just reviewing a song. However I see it as sharing an important message with the public. There is a lesson in every song because most songs come from the personal experiences of the songwriter. Thank you so much for doing what you do. ❤️

Love this song & if people could always place themselves in someone else’s shoes before using negative human traits such as Judgement, Shame, Greed, Lack of empathy...this song reminds people that they can easily end up in the same situation. Those who can place themselves in another’s shoes & understand what they might be going through, thank God for your compassion & empathy.

Great choice of a song. Everlast has a voice that is soooo unlike anyone else on the market today and his songs always had really deep messages. A song a lot of people forget about is Put a Light On which he did for a Carlos Santana CD. Hearing Santana's stunning guitar work alongside Everlast's haunting vocals is a once-in-a-lifetime emotional experience; no two other combined sounds even come close to it.

My great aunty Helena, whom had to flee from Karelia to Finland during ww2. And she had nothing, but she build an career to be an chief nurse for Helsinki University hospital. She saw an homeless, begging for food. Instead, she did the opposite. She asked the homeless man if he had education. He had. So she invited the man to her home, so he could take an hot shower. Then she paid for everything. Getting new hair cut and bought clothes. She helped with work and she got him an apartment with furtinare, bed and etc. On the same day. So when she died in 2003, the man kept his word not to drink again. He still lived in same home. Oh aunty Helena, my greatest idol. I hope some day that'll make you proud. RIP. Like you said, never judge by the cover.
