The thing about Taylor’s music is that you’ll find your favorites change based upon where you are in life. I became a full on Swiftie during the 1989 era. I took my stepdaughter and niece to her concert and that was what hooked me. Then Reputation came out after her dad and I had split up and THAT became my favorite album. Fast forward to COVID and me having already been in therapy for almost a year. Folklore comes out. Still my favorite album to this day, though Midnight’s is growing on me.

Time To Go is so emotional. It’s the last song she released before she began the process of re-recording her stolen albums. The last verse is about the Scott/Scooter situation and how at the end of it all, she only has herself-but also how there’s power in that (the fact that she’s reclaiming what was taken from her and re-recording). The outro also gets me so emo 🥲 it’s like she’s hyping herself up “…you know When it's time to go So then you go Then you go You just go” so in that repetition and then the instrumental outro at the end of the song there’s so much space to reflect about what she’s saying. It’s just such a powerful song 🧡

For me, the melody of right where you left me does match the lyrics. You too mentioned the buildup in the beginning of the song, but it doesn't really go anywhere, there's no release in the chorus and it makes me feel uneasy as if..frozen in time, just like the narrator of the song^^

Bahaha yes, in ITTG she’s saying when you’re in a shitty situation and you just take these little hits over and over and over and finally you know, it’s time to go. Like in a bad relationship.. every little bad thing snaps a tiny piece of your soul until eventually it completely shatters. And you know, it’s finally time to go. So few people leave a bad thing RIGHT when it gets bad. That old familiar body ache, the snaps from the same little breaks in your soul.. you know… it’s finally time to go. The verses are all describing different bad situations that could happen in your life. Work, relationship, friendships. Eventually, you know when it’s time to leave. Whether that’s leaving a job, cutting off a toxic friend, leaving a bad relationship. And the bridge verse that starts with “15 years 15 million tears begging until my knees bled” is her saying her own bad situation, when her masters were purchased. She was signed to that record label for years & begged to own her own work. She gave it her all but got nothing at all, and scooter wonders why she left. He sits on his throne in his palace of bones praying to his greed refers to scooter braun, the shitty music exec who in a way betrayed her. He’s got her past frozen behind glass (her old albums) but she’s got her. And look what she’s done since then.. re recorded her own music, because all she needs is herself :)

No, yeah, i can understand being burned out on songs after listening to them over and over. When I really like a song I wanna put it on repeat but I stop before I lose interest, if not I have to go through a dry spell before I can even THINK of listening to it again. When Midnights came out i realized I still hadn't given Folklore and Evermore a proper listen so I had to do that before touching Midnights. The bad news, I wanted to immerse myself with those CDs... I eventually pulled myself out of it and gave Midnights a try. Now I'm juggling 3 but I just got out of my Folklore haze and slid into my Evermore phase. I'm gonna go to Red (Taylor's Version) and maybe Fearless (Taylor's Version) all hopefully before July when my fave album comes out, Speak Now :) Its the CD that hooked me in completely. (I'm sorry Reputation, you are severely backlogged)
